Well it is only one a week away from the start of Big Break IV next Tuesday (September 13) on the Golf Channel. How many of you folks are going to watch, and do you think it will be more interesting than the previous shows are less interesting.
I'll steal a quote from another member here on our forum. This will be my 8 week BIG BREAK from the Golf Channel. Will these stupid shows ever end. Probably fixed anyway.
I'm not much of a fan of the BB series, but at some time I'll probably catch a rerun or two just to see what's going on. It's at Carnoustie, right? If so, that might be worth a look just to see what damage that monster might do to these guys.
hopefully as this programmes based in the uk we'l be able to see it at the same time as you guys.
I'm interested in what the format will be. I thnik the winner of this will have to be a serious step up in class from the other winners, as the european tour is really the highest level of golf, not withstanding the pga tour.
I'm sure I will watch some of the shows, as I have in the past. However, I do wish that the format would go to a little more "head to head" golf, and less "trickery". I don't mind the skill/accuracy routines, like long drives where they factor in accuracy and length....but breaking window panes is a little much. You now, now that I think about it I've never broken one, and hope not to.
tgosgp, that's the beef many serious golf fans have had with it. I can't see how gimmicks like that will help prove who the best golfer overall is. Their format would be fine for NBC or even ESPN, but for TGC, whose main audience are serious golfers, it seems a little too child-like for them to resort to stuff like that to me.
How does a long drive contest determine the best golfer? you could hit on 310, 50 yards offline and beat somebody who hits it 250 right down the middle, by big break logic!

Resorting to stuff like that must be working for them. After all, this is Big Break IV. I don't get the fascination, but to each their own.
I'm sure I'll watch it. I think I've seen just about every episode of the 1st 3, either live or in reruns. They're hard to miss as TGC is in the regular rotation in my house. I don't like the more gimmicky things either, but they've been kept to a minimum. The break-glass thing is the only one I can really recall. The one where they had to pitch it over a tall wall to the green was borderline, but a reasonable test of their flop shot skills.
