It seems in most golf forums there is a running thread where you post on how you played that day. Since I haven't seen one on here I thought I would kick it off.
Played 18 at a place called Gold Mountain. It is a real nice place to spend an afternoon, but it is a hilly beast. I am a 22 handicap and a round of golf for me is to try and get 3 pars, and no "others" anything over a double bogey. Round started off great, par followed by 3 bogeys, great for me. This is where the wheels started to fall off. Over the course of the round I was able to get five pars :D , three bogeys, seven doubles and three others  . I was really jazzed about the pars, but them others kicked me in the teeth. It was a beautiful afternoon probably 63 degrees partly cloudy and a beer cart babe with killer legs. What more could ya ask for.
Well...last night was league night for me (Ford Hill CC - white course). Last week I couldn't make solid contact with the ball and played bad mostly because I was in a rush to get to the course and didn't get time to warm up...so I focused on ball striking when I got to the course. My first hole I hit a perfect 6 iron over some trees and around the corner that left me 75 yds from the middle of the fairway..I then chunked that shot, blaming it on the very wet conditions...I was left with a short chip just off the green..I hit it 15ft from about 12 yds! missed the putt and made bogey. I won't go through every hole, but this hole set up my 9 hole round thats for sure. I continued hitting the ball great off the Tee with my driver and hitting solid irons into the greens (or just off), but couldn't chip and putt! Unreal..chipping and putting is normally my strongest point...oh well, I went on to shoot 44 on the par 35 course...5 strokes higher then my 9 hole average. Just once I want all phases of my game to be on...just for one 18 hole round, lol
i played 9 holes today. i've been working on my driver recently and it's been working great at the range so i was really excited. on the first hole, i hit a great drive and had a 3/4 pitching wedge into the green. 2 putted for par. the 2nd hole was a 470 yard par 5. hit another great drive and had about 200 to the green. took out my 4 wood and it went the perfect distance and right... into a sand trap. i should have been putting for eagle but because my ball was buried and it took me 2 shots to get out, i made bogey. kind of the story of my day. hit every sand trap in sight pretty much. 3 during my round to be exact.
Not to be rude but.....there's an old golf adage that sums up talking about your own play. "90% of the guys you tell about your round...don't care, and the other 10% wish you would've shot worse!"
Was disappointed to shoot 93 today. When I don't like my score, I look at the card to see how many holes were bogey or better (with a 14.5 hdcp, I'm a bogey golfer, basically). Today, I was bogey or better on 14 holes; it was two triples and a quintuple that did me in. Hadn't played in 3 weeks, so have to expect some disasters.
On the plus side, it didn't rain (as predicted), my playing partners were great guys, and I got a good look at an oriole. Can't remember last time I saw one of those.
Did Mens League on Wednesday and ws having a great rond until the last two holes!! Shot a 6 on a par 4 and then topped it off wdith a 7 on the final par 4. Arrg! I still ended up wdith a 42, but breaking 40 would have relly made the evening. My two playing partners shot 37 and 40 and took home prizesd in their handicap level and I missed out by one stroke in my level!! It was still a great night and the fried chicken dinner afterwards was delicious!
Played a hilly 9 Sunday morning with a couple of neighbors. One guy was hung over, one was slower than any man should ever be and the other couldn't count past bogey  Started off with two pars, followed by a lovely snowman on the first par 3. Slashed my way around the rest of the round but was able to grab a bird with a twenty foot snake on the last par 3. 46 for my 9, which is a little better than average(22) so I was pretty happy on the overall. Teeing it up again on Thursday.
