There's an auction on eBay to be paired with Tiger in the Buick Open Pro-Am. The bidding started at $10,000 but now it's at $16,000 ands ends in 3 days and some hours.
Definitely. I'm sure a round with Tiger is well worth it for anyone who can afford it. They could even make side bets on fairways hit. Might be a way to play with Tiger for free!
I'm sure it would be an interesting round...I wonder how much he would actually interact and chit chat with ya? He seems like the kinda guy who would show up right on time, play his 18 holes and leave. If your lucky you might learn some new curse words to :-/
Well, it's a Pro-Am so I assume he would interact quite a bit with whoever wins, especially if they bid tens of thousands of dollars for the opportunity. Bid as of this post is at $26,600. He seemed to be really friendly in the Buick Tiger Trap commercials. If it were a regular tournament, I wouldn't expect him to say much at all.
It would be interesting to see how Tiger treated a pro-am partner, especially one who spent $25k+ for the privelege.
I read in one of Feinstein's golf books, not sure which one, that TV demeanor can be deceiving. Davis Love, III, according to Feinstein is one of the nicest players for an amateur to be paired with in a pro-am, yet on TV looks kind of indifferent.
Personally, from what I see on TV, I'd prefer an "old-timer" to Tiger. Give me Lee Trevino, Arnie, Tom Watson, Ian Woosnam, John Daly, even Monty would probably be fun!
Oh well, I'll never get to play with any of these guys. Although I did go 9 holes with Peter Ousterhuis (sic) about 15 years ago when he was a teaching pro in NJ. A guy I knew took a 9-hole playing lesson and invited me along. Peter shot the most boring 33 I've ever seen.
Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriquez, Fuzzy Zoeller, and Johnny Miller....who would get the last word in that foursome? That would be a great group to play with. If not for the golf, certainly for the stories! Not my fantasy foursome, but I'll bet you'd hear a lot of things you won't hear on TV.
the auction was edited so whoever wins has to have a handicap index of at least 18.0... i guess that and not that i can't afford it, counts me out of this auction...
I checked the auction and final bid went for $30,100. The second highest bid was for $30,000. I wonder if that person was ****** that they lost the auction by $100 or happy they didn't have to spend $30,000.
