Well we all have to start somewhere

Hi guys n gals :) well today is the first time ive ever been on a course so i thought id share my experience with you all :)

Ive been playing since Tuesday so im about as good as Jean Van De Velde at Carnoustie, 18th Hole ;)

Every day since Tuesday ive been at the range slowly getting better and slowly hitting the ball more consistantly :)

Today i hit every ball (not well but i made contact :D) and for the first time i was hitting my woods in the middle (ive already dented the bottom of my Driver :( ) and my irons were going fairly straight.

I was hitting the driver up to about 210 and all my clubs -10 of that (per club not all that 200 yards lol)

Anyway ive only ever been on the range so today i thought id splash out on going round the small pitch and putt course the course has to offer. This is the first time ive used my own ball no matter gone round a course so i was quite nervous about losing all my balls
The first hole comes and its about 130 to the pin and i totally shank the ball :(, i go on to make a 6 over par lol :)

Anyway as i go through the holes i manage to find the middle of the clubs again and i got better and better :) I even made par on the 7th and single bogey on 8 and 9 :)

I only lost 1 ball though, there was a water hazard and i managed to find it :)
My chipping has improved ten fold off the edge of the greens as ive changed my stance totally :)

Im chuffed and ill be going back on the range tomorrow for some more hitting of balls into the sunset :)

I love this game :D

That is all, Cheers for listening, I just had to tell someone :D

Sounds like your hooked Fraggie. That's the way to start, keep it easy and stressless by playing an executive layout until you develop the confidence for something more challenging. Welcome to the game & Golf Rewind. I look forward to hearing about your progress ... and don't worry about the lost balls, if you keep your head down you'll find more than you lose.

Par-bogey-bogey is a very good finish for a new player, fraggie. Thanks for sharing your story with us! Keep us informed on your progress.

Sounds like a great start to me. My first time out, I quit counting at 140. And that might have been the front nine only! HA HA

If he's chuffed, that's great...if he chuffed, well, now, that's different.

Welcome to the game Fraggie, you'll love it and hate it. Par-Bogey-Bogey is a good finish for about 90% of golfers, so good going.

Sounds like you're off to a good start... nice finish on your last 3 holes! Great idea too that you're developing your game on the range and on executive courses. Are you considering taking lessons next? My one regret is that I didn't take them when I started. I waited over 30 years. If you do decide on lessons, ask around and find a pro who others have found to be an effective instructor. Have fun and hope you stick with it!

"Taking the mickey" (out of someone) is to make fun of them.

Well today is exactly a week since i started playing and (yet again) i was out on the course practising Im dedicated when i start things hehe, anyway i started out on the small pitch and putt again because it was dead on there and i thought i could get around quickly and then onto the range. The first hole on the p+p course is the 3rd hole of the full 18 course and i played with a couple of other guys who were going round on the 18. I managed to beat em both with a double I couldn't hit the ball as nicely as i was hitting it before for the par bogey bogey finish but i was a lot more consistant with my scores. Instead of the sporadic 9's and 10's i was constantly between 5 and 7. After the 9 i went onto the range and i was hitting the ball sweet as I just wish i could hit it on the course as well as i hit it off the mat. I was chipping and pitching for some short flags and getting very close yet on the course i was missing by quite a way. I suppose i still need to get my distances sorted out. For the first time today ive breached the 200 yard mark consistantly I hit quite a few 3woods over the 200 yards and a few drivers too. Ever since yesterday ive taken half a step towards the ball when using my woods and my accuracy and timing through the ball has increased ten fold

All in all a good day again. Im really enjoying practising and ill keep going back every day till i get good enough to go around the full 18 without disgracing myself

Just thought id let you all know of my relatively small progress in the last few days, it may just make some of you remenise to when you were all beginners

Fraggie
