This looks like " it was great while it lasted " when it comes to my golf and what a nice way to close it out. A spur of the moment decision took me to the local club yesterday and I picked up a game with a couple of members. In the past five weeks I can honestly say I have been playing ( and scoring ) as good as I ever have. This course is fairly short but a neat track to play and not by any means what you would call too difficult. I started off with six pars and a birdie, on the eighth hole a par four of 365 yards I nailed my driver down the left side with a gentle fade. The approach to a green with a pond in front, front pin, I took my trusty 52 deg. wedge and canned the sucker for an eagle two. I was so pleased with that perfect shot as were my playing partners, what a way to end. So that could be it, to put it briefly the company that my wife and I work for have broken the agreement that we had when they hired us ( yes I have a good case against them but we have decided not to pursue it ). Last evening we were contacted by the manager of the remote four star lodge that we used to work for, they really want us to return and made us an offer we can't refuse. So guys in a couple of weeks its' back to our beautiful valley in the mountains, instead of swinging the clubs I will be carving my big 800 snowmobile through the mountains in deep powder. The stress has gone ( who needs that ) and I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play golf this season and to have done as well as I have.

Good luck with it Buteman! EVERY time I see your name on a thread I think of Port Bannatyne and Rothesay G.Cs, our Deep Dive Work Ups and Zavaroni,s Chip shop. Oh and lovely wee Irene(younger brother called David?) with whom I enjoyed a wonderful few weekends, I am sure she is still across the pond (USA)
What a way to finish the season, buteman. Congrats on the eagle. Have fun in the snow... we're just starting to get some on the hills out here now (Blackcomb opened this weekend).
Great way to finish indeed....can't do too much better than holing out for eagle to finish. Congrats on that shot and have fun in the snow this winter.
I am very jealous of you..... for me, golf has become an interest second to snow sports..... I just wish snow was closer than a plane ride for me!
Snowsports can be the greatest of fun, when we lived in the mountains the lake in front of our cabin would freeze over by mid November. After a fresh dump of snow we would have drag races down the lake ( my wife was not too keen on my participation ) it was a great ride until I hit a mound of crusted snow at full throttle one day. At full throttle my estimated speed was around 150 k.p.h. according to my son I must have been fifteen feet airborne thankfully my sled landed right side up and I got her under control. The few days I spent with a very painful crotch caused me to back off the throttle and leave the speed races to the younger guys. I am surprised that in the north of Scotland where they have plenty of snow in the winter that snowmobiling is not to be seen, the terrain in those parts would be a snowmobiler's dream.
Believe it or not, I'm all for FUN in the snow! As long as I don't have to shovel my driveway each day. But I would have a blast snowmobiling...one of the few things in the world I haven't tried yet.
Great round and with an eagle finish! Everything including the stars and the moon must line up to shoot an eagle. I shoot the odd bird every few rounds. Eagles are pretty rare with the people I play with.
Hope your new jobs is successful and that your family life continues to be happy and healthy.
