When I started playing golf 7 years ago (at age 55), a good friend said that, based on statistics, I would be lucky to ever break 100 on a typical 18 hole course. When I finally did shoot 99, on his home course, I framed the score card. It is hanging on a wall in the garage near my work bench. Am I crazy?
I play a nine hole (par 34) every Saturday. In the recent past, I carded a 43, and then 41. About 2 weeks ago I shot 40 and taped the card to the framed 99. Keep in mind that 2 years ago, I was shooting in the mid-50's on this course. Having just purchased a new set of fitted clubs and I'm hoping to break into the thirties soon.
Question: Do you "memorialize" your best scores or cards from famous courses? If so how?
I guess I'd make a scrap book type thing from famed courses, seeing as how I've only played 4 or 5 different courses. I don't think I'd go so far a framing one, but golf, to me, is about personal achievement. So if breaking 100 gives you something to be proud of, frame it, laminate it, have it bronzed - well, that might not be such a good idea, but I'm sure you get the idea. Congratulations on the improvements!
BTW, my lowest score is a 94 and I have most of my cards in a...hmmm...somewhere. I should find them, now that I have a golf box to put them in.

Like you, I took the game up a bit late...at 47. In my home office I've got a display rack with an antique putter. I've also placed a couple of scorecards on the rack...broke 80 and didn't want to let the moment go! I also placed an 'Eagle' ball on the rack. For me, it's a reminder of what is possible as much as anything else. We've all experienced the thrills the game will occasionally give us. Don't we all have that fleeting thought on the first tee ... wondering if today will be the day. The scorecard is tangible validation. Frame the sucker.
I started playing golf in my mid teens and thought I would remember significant events forever. Well 25+ years later I can only tell you the dates of a couple of those events. I wish I had the discipline to keep the score cards of significant accomplishments.
I keep all of my scorecards in a notebook, and I plan on framing the first time I shoot par or lower. Closest I have gotten so far is a 77 on par 72.
I'm playing in Kapalua in July, so I may frame a card from there.
I've framed one scorecard. I broke the course record at my home club and that's on the wall in my parents' house. 67 vs par 71. I also have a card that I'm considering framing but haven't yet, which is a 77 round Pine Valley at my first try. Quite proud of that one. I have the cards from my two holes in one too, but haven't framed those or even thought about it.
Haha! That's hilarious! I just broke 100 last weekend after many tries, I would shoot 46 on the front nine about 5 times straight, and completely collapse down the back nine. But I finally broke through and put together a score under 100. Heck yeah I framed that thing, just like I still have my first birdie ball.
I have the scorecard with my first birdie on it, but I would never frame it because I was like 130 for the 18 holes (lots of OB penalties). Instead, I have the ball that I used on that hole and I am looking for a clear plastic ball cube to display it in.
I haven't framed one yet, but I'm going to when I break 70, get a hole-in-one and there was one more, when I break 25 putts.... that card might not get framed for a verrryyyyy long time, or it might not even get framed at all.
I have one frame for my lowest ever score and I continue to upgrade it by replacing the old scorecard with a new one when I break the old score.
It currently is a 77 and hopefully will be replaced soon again.
I have framed two cards. Number 1 was my card from the Old Course at St Andrews (99 scored) and number 2 was my card when winning my club championship in 1994. ( scored 72 on a par 60 course )
