I went to Mississippi State and they had one of the first PGM programs. The course is great because the PGA gave some money to update the course about 15 years ago. They also have a turf grass management program which helps with great low cost labor. It was $3.00 bucks to walk nine in 1992. I would walk in there with change every day.
The two best I've played were Seminole (Florida State) in Tallahassee and The University of New Mexico's course in Tuscon (it played 7575 yards in 1969).
I haven't played a big time college golf course but I've played Herkimer County Community College. Its a local course in my area. A real nice course overall.
University of Illinois GC in Savoy, IL. the Blue Course is pretty easy and straight forward. the Orange Course is a little more difficult. i've been playing there alot lately because they're open year round and still in wonderful shape.
Seminole course(fla. State) daughter is a student
Scarlet and grey of ohio state, used to live in Upper Arlington and Daughter went to school with a girl who's Dad was a prof there.
Oklahoma State....actually have a flag from there, i have 2 brothers that went to shool there.
I've played Florida State, University of Michigan and Rutgers University.
The University of Michigan GC is one of the best golf courses I've played. The greens are unbelievably contoured, and the course, when I've played it was always exceptionally maintained.
Rutgers is a good layout - its close to work and won't kill your game. It is usually very well maintained in the Summer. If you're a Rutgers student I think the rates are very low.
