My first hole played this year......

Yesterday, standing on the first tee-for the first time since last October. it's 38 degrees cloudy and flurries. No warm-up, no practice swings. 510 yard par five :

Shot 1) Over the top low hook off the toe, somehow skips along the left- side of fairway, thru the rough, settles behind a large tree. Horrible

Shot 2) Try to play a low draw around the tree and into the fairway. Hit the top of the ball skipped along the ground about 60 yards in front of me. Sickly

Shot 3) Still in the left rough, completely shanked a 5 iron (still trying to lay-up), low, into the right rough behind a new set of trees. Pathetic

Shot 4) Take a full -throttle swing out of frustration with a 5-wood, hit a huge thin shot and almost missed the ball. Because of the aweful miss-hit, it stays below the branches, skips along the dead-pan ground, bounces up onto the left side of the green and settles on the top ledge, 40 feet from the hole cut front right. Woeful.

Shot 5) Pick out my line on a 40 foot down hill double-breaker (first attempt at putting in 5 months) and let it go. Rolling, rolling , rolling. 15 feet away, 10 feet away, it looks good, 5 feet away-it looks great. It takes the last break nicely, heads right for the hole, it's almost dead, barely moving- then ker-plunk! Drops in !

PAR! ISN'T THIS A GREAT GAME?
