Golf Digest Long Game & Short Game Hndicap

Anybody read the new golf digest? There was an interesting article on determining your "long game" and "short game" handicaps. Supposedly, this would help you determine what part of your game needs the most work.

Interesting read: http://golfdigest.com/instruction/in...rhandicap.html

I did the numbers for my last round and calculated the below
Long game handicap: 8
Short game handicap: 9.58

Pretty balanced round. But, I putted terrible.

Another link from this article was: http://GD.shotbyshot.com

The website also had some good analysis. You get to enter one round for free (annual fee is $25-50 which I won't be paying) and get some interesting numbers for each facet of yoiur game. Plus, you enter what your current handicap is and what handicap you are striving for. Then, it tells you how much better in each area you need to get.

Just did the formula on my last round , came up with 10 long game and 16.3 short game when I shot a 42, but doubled it to make the 84. I was on pace for 36 putts so that explains the big number there.

good information to keep track of though.

One of my favorite clubs. This past Sunday, my playing partner committed on how well I was hitting it. A nice 225-230 fade. As long as I don't try to work the ball and just put a good swing on it, it's a thing of beauty.

did it twice for me. One round of 75 gave me a long game handicap of 0 and a short game handicap of 6.13 EWWW short game was terrible that day.

Then did it for a horrible round I played a few days back when I shot a dag on80....gave me a long game handicap of 10 and short game handicap of 11.092

Of course I already knew I had to work on the short game.......

Cool calculation though, especially for those who can't pinpoint what to work on.
