2nd place

well my golf team came in 2nd today in the championship. A little disapointing mainly cause we had only lost 1 match up till now and really expected to win. but 2nd outta 8 isnt bad. the other team just played the rounds of their lives when they needed too. and our guys kinda fell back a little when they could least afford it. but all in all the kids had fun, i had fun and we came out ok.

out of 12 kids i had 6 1st team all conference, 4 2nd team all conference, and 2 honorable mention, so at least everyone of my players got recognized.

I won the coaches championship today with a 3 under 69 if anyone cares lol.

Im 22. I coach a small Christian school's golf team. I got involved because i used to play for them and the previous coach was always a great friend of mine. He asked me to take over last year so i have been doing it for 2 years now. Last year we came in 2nd by 3 strokes and this year we came 2nd by i think 13.

It is VERY time consuming, and you dont get to play the level of golf you want to play all the time because of your teaching, and basically "baby sitting" responsibilities out there on the course.

As far as stacked team and junior team: I had a Jr. team last year or a practice team if you want to call it that, full of 7th graders. Alot of them between last year and this year changed schools so i had about 22 at the begining this year as opposed to 26 last year. Whats great though is when i played we had 6 come out. that was it. so the program has continued to grow. i was VERY happy at the 22 this year because it was a more manageable number considering its only me most of the time out there.

We had a few that i had to kick off for various reasons (mostly the young ones for behavior) and 3 for grades which left me with 14. But what i tried to do with the kids ESPC. the seniors was give them a glimpse of someone relatively close to their age so that they had a basis of what they could, would, would'nt want to be. Instead of them looking at someone in the 50s saying "oh well he has a big boat and 4 cars so i will too" Alot of the kids had these HUGE HUGE HUGE misconceptions about how things worked. So i talked with them and gave them some insight and answered their questions as well as trained them in a sport that they will play the rest of their lives.

I got 1 a handful of scholarships so he is set for college. I got one into firefighting/emt college this summer. Which was a huge jump according to his parents who said he had NO plans at all up till this time. But what i remember coming outta HS was that i was completely lost. HS did nothing to "train" me for real world issues and problems, so i sat and spun my wheels for 6mths before i decided what i was going to do and how i was going to do it. Some of the people who have graduated with me are STILL spinning their wheel and will for a long time to come.

I have alot of free time to be able to coach. I have been a real estate developer (commercial and residential) for 3 years now and have been trading stocks, futures, options you name it ive traded it at least once for 4 years now. So the free time is abundant. I have recently enrolled in police academy starting may 15th. Mainly because im burned out on what i do. At 22 years old i did not envision my self sitting behind a desk. So im now going after something i have always wanted to do. Ive been married for 2 years now, no kids. been with my wife since we were 15 years old.

sorry for the life story their but coaching and helping these kids is something im very passionate about. I dont get paid for any of it and it is sometimes an intrusion on the things i would rather be doing but it is definitely worth every second when you see a kid hit that new shot you have been teaching him and he just smiles like theres no tomorrow.

Congratulations Mizuno. Great job you have done there, working with the kids. I have no doubt that you will do very well in any career you choose.

Congrats on the win! I was basically an assistant coach when I was on the HS golf team.. I helped teach and show everyone the basics, and got them shooting mid to high 50's. They still sucked, but they couldn't do that in the begining of the season.

My coach got paid 1250 at a small school.. But it requires ALOT of time, Wouldn't be worth it if you were doing it just for the money.
