Pace of play clocks on the course.

How many of you play at a club that has the clocks on certain holes that let you know how well you are keeping pace.

I think they are a great Idea yet I have only seen them on 4 or 5 courses.

For those you have not seen them. There is one on the first tee set to real time. Lets say you tee off at 10:00 o'clock. On every other hole there is another clock on the tee. If you are keeping pace it will of course say 10:00 o'clock on each tee. If you are ahead of pace it will be a couple of minutes before 10:00 and if you are slow then , you guessed it, it will say 10:05 or similar.

The key is as you te off on 17 or 18 the clock should say 10:00 or earlier. I found that we were really making a consious effort to stay ahead of our te off time.

I think these are a great idea. The one local club that has them says they really work. People really try to keep pace.

They have them on a couple corses around here. Most times, we'll be 15-20 mins behind by the last one (hole 15 on one of these courses) - kind of sad, really. That said, once I was almost 1 hour ahead at that same tee box... the course was nearly empty that day.

We were at a course in Laughlin last month and they had all the carts on the GPS. On your screen it would say "you are four minutes behind". It also showed the carts in front of you and thier distance. And it kept your score! It was pretty neat!

Theres only one around here. We play it only once a year. Its a 1 hour drive.

Have also played with the GPS system with a running clock, but that one was out of state, Myrtle Beach.

I think pace of play clocks are a great idea if they are enforced. Unfortunately, some courses put the clocks up, so they don't bother to have rangers to enforce the pace of play.

One course I play has the clocks, but only as you drive away from number 1 and again on #10. Nobody pays attention to them, so I think they are useless. Every hole would probably enforce the idea better. Guys that play slow would complain about them and not play there.

**** I think I'm on to something. I'll talk the course into putting them on every hole, and then maybe I'll only be fighting 2/3 as many guys out there.
