My Anniversary

Tomorrow is my sixth wedding anniversary, but my wife & I decided to celebrate today because our daughter was at Childcare for most of the day.

Last year, we started a tradition to play at least 9 holes together. My wife has only been on the course three times, but she has gotten to the point where she can hit a 7 iron about 75 yards in the air; so she can get around the course o.k.

Her Anniversary / Birthday / Mother's Day present was a brand new set of clubs from Custom Golf Sales (thanks Christian!). So I was covered; however my favorite golf store had women shoes on closeout so I picked up a new pair for her.

The day started with a great surprise as she gave me a 22 degree hybrid that I have been looking at for sometime not necessarily to replace my four iron, but just something to hit a long way out of the rough and something to hit out of fairway bunkers. I hit it a couple times on the range & figured I throw it in the bag for the round. On the third hole, 385 yards par four uphill & into the wind; Tee shot left me 180 yards to the green. I figured two more shots to get on the green anyway, so why not try the new club. Bam - the ball flies to the back of the green and rests on the fringe. Two putts and par.

So things are looking good. Hit the club two more times & once from a fairway bunker, all really good shots. My golf game has been improving lately and I keep trying to break my best score of 47. Monday I shot a 49 (with three triples). Today, by the end of the 9, I had played the course with one ball & no triples. Final score 45 (3 pars - shoulda been 4) combined score with my Monday score to post to my handicap 94 - both personal best. I can't wait to go play a whole 18 tomorrow. Dropped my handicap to 26. I enjoy listening to all your golf stories & figured I would post one of my own. Have a good night; I know I am!!!
