I just saw the goofiest golf show ever.

It was on golf channel tonight. I guess it was sort of a take off on the Big Break series.

They had a group of Nascar folks. Non of which looked like they could break 90.

They had these wooden frames built and they had glass in them!!!! They were about 2 feet square and about 6 feet off the ground. There was a piece of glass for each driver with their number on it.

Each player had a chance to break a piece of glass to knock out a fellow player. I thought I had seen everything. I guess not.

I think watching PGA tour players in Nascar cars would have been better.

Big Break: All-Stars or something along those lings..

"They had these wooden frames built and they had glass in them!!!! They were about 2 feet square and about 6 feet off the ground. There was a piece of glass for each driver with their number on it."

That's like Big Break's signature competition, hence the glass and name big "break"..

I though Big Break meant the winner got "The Big Break" of playing a tour event.

So they do this glass breaking thing on all the Big Breaks????

I think you are correct that is why they call it that is because they get a big break not because of the glass. But they do play that game on the show. I find it interesting.

The glass breaking competition is usually the first competition of the show. If you watch the very first episode of a Big Break show, you'll see this done every time. I'd love the opportunity to try it. It looks like fun.

And those guys had some horrible swings, didn't they?

You got that right. I had to turn it off. Started to watch the knitting channel or something like that.

I think you are being a little critical of a group of athletes that spend 39 of their 52 weekends a year at racetracks. I wonder how much free time these guys have to go out and practice. I am sure your game wouldn't suffer at all if we took away all but 10 weekends for you to play.

My point exactly!!!! Put someone on who can golf like baseball players or hockey players if you are going on a sports based theme.

The Big break is painful enough to watch as it is. Putting 90 or 100 shooters on is even worse.

Almost as painful as watching Nascar the past 3 or 4 years.

Remember too, the whole thing was to raise money for various charities - it was for a good cause, so what if they aren't exactly scratch golfers?

I'm not very good, but if I could raise some money for a charity by slicing it, sure, be glad too.

I had no idea this was for charity. It was a very good idea then. I unfortunately turned it off when I saw them trying to break glass. Never gave the show a chance to tell me about the charity.

This was a good idea and I take back all previous comments!!!!!

They should try doing an episode of the big break allstar challenge with the Vancouver Canucks.... they sure have had quite a bit of time out on course these past couple years.... But brian, you are right in the sense that it is a terrible idea, besides the charity factor.

No No. The Canuck's have a future and have some skill. You need this show to have the Leafs in it. They will be playing golf in May and June for years to come!!!

My poor Sabres look like they may be in trouble.

I caught part of one of these All-Star episodes (a repeat, of course) a few weeks ago that had John Daly, Peter Jacobsen, Grace Park and someone else.

They did the wall thing, where the players had to hit a flop shot over a wall to the hole a few yards away. After a successfull shot, they would add another 2 foot section to the top of the wall. Grace Park made it look easy! She popped 3 of them them right over the wall, and I believe all landed within 8-10 feet of the hole. Pretty good when shooting blind!

These type of shows are ok, but they aren't "must see TV". Just gives Golf Channel something to run between ads for the Medicus and the Q-Link bore-a-thons.

There is a lot of truth to that.
Remember when golf channel first came on? Orlimar must have had about 1/4 of the total airtime.
