Mr Bogey and I were playing our usual after work 9 hole epic battle and the rarest of all scores happens....a 2 on a par 5!!! For the past 2 weeks we have been playing the Black (farthest tees) at our home course. Each of the three nines play to just over 3500 yards. Yesterday we played the Lake Side and we both shoot 36. Today we decide to play the Pine Side and we were both playing right around par. We step up on number 7 a 525 par 5 slightly downhill tee with an uphill second shot. Mr Bogey hits a good drive and has 185 to the pin for his second shot and hits a 7 iron. I'm just to his left so I see he has hit a great shot right at the stick. The pin was in the front and his ball hits just short of the green and takes a bounce right at the pin. We can't see the green but it sure looked close from my angle. I take a 6 iron from about the same distance and put it in the green side bunker. As we are walking up the hill to the green he looks over at me and said, "I don't see the ball." We get closer and sure enough, it's in the hole for a double eagle. It was his first, and the first I've ever seen. Oh yea, I make my birdie from the bunker like that's of any consequence. But the story doesn't end there. Our match is all square and I birdie the next hole to go 1 up. Our last hole is 420 yards over a gorge to an uphill green. I pipe one down the middle and Mr Bogey hits one in the right rough. He's got a sidehill lie and tries to 3/4 a 6 iron from 160. I never saw the ball and he said he thinks it went over the green. I put a 9 iron inside 12 feet and we get up to the green and his ball is over the green, down the hill, past the cart path, next to the putting green. I'm thinking I've got him on this one. From a downhill lie he flops a lob wedge that just gets on the green and is heading for the pin. I look over at my son and just shake my head. It never left the pin as it jumped in the hole like a scared rabbit. UNBELIEVABLE. I miss my birdie putt and loose the dollar bet. I shoot 34 to Mr Bogey's unbelievable 33 with a 2-4-3 finish. All this on 6-6-06 day.

Wow! Does Mr Bogey regularly hit 340 yard drives, or was this just one of those holes when everything comes together? Whatever it was, the double-eagle is amazing! And then to follow that up with that final shot is just too much to be dumb luck! Maybe Mr Bogey needs a name change!

I've been playing with Mr Bogey for the past 8 years and he has always hit a long ball. This hole you get some added roll by the tee shot being slightly down hill it you fly it just over 250 yards. What amazes me more is how long he hits his irons. 185 yards is his normal 7 iron.

Don't get carried away! My normal 7 iron is about 170-175, but I was 185 to the stick, 197 to green center - I knew since it was firm that if I carried on, I would release to the back of the green. So I hit a strong 7 iron that landed in the front fringe and released forward on - and IN! As for the 340 drive, I actually didn't exactly flush that tee ball, but I hit it exactly in the slot of that fairway where it runs quite a distance. The pin was in front and the tee was mid-box, so it was playing about 510. Think about poor Pistol , making a birdie and losing BY TWO!
Oh , and here is an even better part of this double eagle - it was witnessed by TWO Golf Rewind members, as JShiver15 was also playing along with us.
And, by the way, on the way home, after those two hole-outs, I stopped and used the dollar I won from Pistol to buy a ticket for tonights' lottery - I will let you know if great things come in 3's too.

Only 170-175 my left toe!!!! You haven't hit a 7 iron 170 since they made featheries!!!!! What did you hit on number 4 from 205? I hit a 3 iron almost as hard as I could.
There's really not much I can add except that it was the most amazing shot I've ever seen.
And on #9, as soon as the ball left the face of his wedge, I knew it was going to be within inches, if not in the hole. Sure enough, it rolls in at a perfect speed. Best display of golf I have ever witnessed in person. Not to mention that both Pistol and Mr. Bogey shot under par from the back tee box in less than favorable putting conditions.
i hit an eagle 2 at the weekend, closest ive come to a double eagle is about 10feet maybe 15feet with a 3 iron and ended up with birdie. sounds like a great shot, keep it up.
