Relief from man-made objects?

The other day i was playing with a few friends and i hit a shot that came to rest within about 10" of a plywood cover over a hose. If i made the shot one foot would have been on the plywood and the other on the grass. I also would have hit the plywood infront of the ball because it was at an angle. I asked if i could get relief and one of the guys was like "i guess so" but i told him i believe i get relief anyway so why ***** about it. Was i right with this assumption?

I am not quite clear about what this object is that you are describing. Plywood cover over a hose? A full sheet of plywood covering a rolled up hose? And where exactly was this 'object' located?

Sorry, Yes it was covering up a coiled up hose, and there was a about 10" pipe sticking out of the ground that had some valves in it. This was located about 10 yards off the green.

You get relief from Obstructions.

An Obstruction is anything artificial, including the artificial surfaces and sides of roads and paths and manufactured
ice, except:

a. Objects defining out of bounds, such as walls, fences, stakes and railings;
b. Any part of an immovable artificial object that is out of bounds; and
c. Any construction declared by the Committee to be an integral part of the course.
