Reading greens by lying on your stomach.

Is this allowed? Not that I would do it, but sometimes I wish I can get lower to the ground.

Do not know of any rules against it but one might look a bit strange doing it.

It seems to be the preferred method of my 5 year old.

Even if they tried, I think that some of my friends stomachs won't allow them to get close enough to the turf.

Leaguegolf reads the greens like that ^^^^^ all the time......then he has to let the group behind him play thru while he is still trying to get up.

I get better reads by walking around the hole than if I get close to the ground. I think I;ve spent enough time practicing my putting that I'm able to get a good idea of the line by looking at it at variou angles as well. When I'm completely sure of the line, then I putt it a little harder in order to eliminate break. Would be funny to see a new fade of reading greens while laying down. Could imagine guys like Campbell and Stadlers would complain about being at a disadvantage

I have seen a few people down on the ground to read a green, most frequently a mid/late 40's chap who makes himself look even more stupid than we previously thought and holds the golf course up even more when he does it!

Spend time.(lay on the ground)...the putt doesn't change. Just put it in and move on! Putts are just moments.

I wonder if he leaves a putter mark on the green when he does this? I have did this a couple times after seeing him do it , and I really can't see the break any better then usual. Only thing that I get out of it is a wrinkle in my darn shoes.

I read greens like that.

It really does help me read the greens a LOT better.

Funny thing is a lot of people say I look like Camilo Villegas.

Kinda cool I guess.
