i played 9 holes today and my driver was off today. i was hitting my drives so bad that i didn't hit any of the 9 greens in regulation but my short game and putting was pretty good. i got up and down 6 times and ended at +3.
if you could choose, what would you rather do?
1. hit all your greens in regulation but 2 putt every hole and make par.
2. miss all your greens but get up and down on every hole for par.
to tell you the truth, i think i would prefer #2. i would think #1 might be a little boring, although i wouldn't know having never done this before. the closest was when i hit 6 greens in a row but managed to birdie 2 of them. with option #2, you'd get to create more shots and that's my pick for what i'd rather do just because i think it would be more fun.
At first glance, I would choose hitting every green but I do think it would be tough to take at the end of the day having missed 18 birdie putts. Seeing my score of par for the round would ease the pain, though. My best round ever was 4 over so I've come fairly close but never done it.
2 putting every birdie chance would be pretty frustrating, IMO. At least ending with par and getting up and down on every hole, you would know that you scored pretty much as well as possible given the circumstances. Hitting every green and ending with par would only leave you wondering "what could have been?"
thats a tough one, since u always two putt and always get a par.. i would rather do number 2 then cuz i can hit some really nice save shots outta the rough and ppl would say... nice shot!
I prefer #2.
The only time I use my woods are on the driving range or a VERY long course.
Try one of your local executive courses for a while. leave your woods at home. you will find your long game will improve greatly. I started 5 years ago and currently have a 13 handicap.
I would have to pick #1. Ill take good, consistant ball and swing control anytime and give myself the chances for birdie. 18 GIR's and a card full of par doesn't sound boring to me.
Give me the the two putts all day long, as long as there are no 3 putts. Having to scramble all day long, and scramble at 100% to boot? That would tax the heck out of my nerves. I think fry underestimated his stats. Scrambling for 66% is pretty good? The best players on the PGA tour only scramble 65 - 67% of the time.
I prefer number 1. I had a round were every time i hit the green i was no less than 40 feet away, and I didnt 3 putt once. I hit 16 greens, thats not boring.
