When I play with my buddies on the weekends, we always ride, because they don't like to walk. If I go play as a single, or join up with people, I will almost always walk. I'm able to concentrate more when I can walk to my ball and think about my shots etc.
I always ride - I spend a good deal of time on my feet at work and I play fast so I like to ride. But I also want a comfortable place to sit if I have to wait, and I like a place to put a drink and a place for my cigarettes, and any other misc. stuff like towels, umbrellas, sweater or windshirt, etc. I'm not out there for exercise, I'm there to play golf - and in as much comfort as possible. I still feel like I'm in the game b/c I am.
I walk whenever possible. But in saying that, I ride a good amount of time on the weekends. Most of the time on Sat and Sunday mornings, they make you ride. Also, there are a lot of very hilly courses around here that will cause walkers to slow the pace sometimes.
On Saturday, we were planning on walking the course, but the pending heavy rain made us decide to pony up the money to ride. In case it started pouring and we were 2 miles from the clubhouse!
It actually depends on the weather and time of day. If it's the typical Texas heat, then I ride b/c I don't want to be wasted for the rest of the day. If it's in the fall, winter, spring...I walk (carrying bag) when I can. I also prefer to ride if I'm trying to fit in all 18 before sunset, or if it is supposed to rain later than day.
