This is why I don't do business with my local Golf USA Store.
For the past two months, I have been patiently waiting for their new Swing Analyzer to open. I was looking to buy new irons and figured I would wait for the analyzer to open and see what it says about what kind of clubs I should use or what would fit me best.
For two months is was "It will be up wednesday hopefully." Come in Wednesday and it's nto up, "Well try next Monday." I come Monday and it's still nto up. When on like that for two months. I got tired of waiting so I went ahead and purchased a set of irons without hitting the analyzer. Today, I decided to head down to it and swing just to see what it says. I get down there, and they want to charge me $25. They kow me quite well and know I have been patiently waiting to try this out. And not to mention that during the time it was getting set up they told me I could swing it for free.
To me that is a terrible way to run business. Why not have people try it out for free? $25 seems expensive to swing maybe 3 times and give you 3 iron choices. Thanks but no thanks. I'll do my golf shopping in Spokane, Washington.
Sorry, I just needed to tell someone because it really did irk me and made me mad the rest of the day.
I thought that too. That's why I didn't really do it was because of that. If I took at lot of swings and see my average club yada yada yada then it might be worth it. But nope. Never step foot in that store again if they wasn tto deal like that.
Not all Golf USAs are the same. Some are terrific. There used to be a Golf USA nearby, in Beaverton, Oregon. When I just started playing golf, and I bought a complete set of components clubs there. The owner was great. He would let me use their "swing analyzer" (this was 9 or so years ago, so it wasn't as sophisticated as they are today), whenever I wanted to, no charge. He gave me tips all the time. I would spend alot of time there when the weather didn't allow me to hit the range.
I always got discounts on equipment, free club repairs, etc. Customers could even rent an SKB hard travel case for $10. a week. Sadly, the location wasn't a good one, and the store closed a few years later. A Golf Galaxy is now in the same shopping center (smack dab in the middle of it), and it's doing well.

I know how you feel. There's a store here I have said "Never" about as well, but then I cooled off and they had a really good sale and I forgave them...At least until they tick me off again.
You guys back east and in the southern states are very lucky. You have large warehouse style golf stores with everything in the world to choose from. That type of golf store just hasn't made it out to California yet. We did just get a golf smith here in So. Cal, but it's the only large golf shop that I know of, and I'm not impressed at all with their selection of clubs. I love it when I'm in Myrtle and can go to Golf Dimensions or Martin's. Those places have so many clubs, even for leftys like me. I could hang out there for hours.
you would think that with three major manufactures located in southern cal. and with the amount of people there, there would be mega stores all over the place.

Yeah, no kidding. I mean the Callaway, Cobra and Titleist warehouses are 10 minutes from my house, but there are no large golf shops, that I know of, in a 40 mile radius. Go figure.
Sorry, didn't mean to derail the thread. It was more like a detour actually.
