I played 9 holes in 1 hour

Took my 4 year old son to a course (9 hole muni with small fast greens, 3,300 from the tips) about 25 miles south of where I live. The course is in a small town of about 5,000 people, and not much within 20 minutes by interstate. Anyway, his first time on a course so I brought along his 7-iron and putter. I've never played the course before and this was the main reason instead of the course a few blocks away from where I live. When I get ready to pay, the guy in the proshop says $10. I then say that I need a cart too (an easy walking course but I don't think my son would have made it). And he says $10 for 9/cart until the season if over. So we head out to the first tee and I wait for a single walker to clear so I can hit. He lets us play through on 2, a few guys let us play through on 4 and then we are alone the rest of the time. I don't think there were more than 15 people on the course at one time. Playing alone with no one in front of you or pushing behind you is great - an very rare. I'll be going there again soon. But the best part was watching my 4 year old play a few shots on a real course. He liked trying to hit out of the bunker the best. I told my 3 year old son he and I can go next week.

Sounds like y'all had a good time and didn't hold anyone up (1 hour? ) Great way to introduce your kids to the game...no substitute for a real course, lol. Way to go, dad!

A wonderful age for your son to be introduced to golf. I hope all of you stay with it. I started caddying and playing at age 8 and have enjoyed many years on the course.
