Repairing Divots

Usually I can take a dollar bill size divot that I can find and replace easily. But lately, I've been hitting these very shallow divots that don't leave a huge chunk of grass I can replace. It will be maybe 6-8 small pieces of grass that can't be put back into the divot. How should I repair it or can I repair it?

Aerate it with your ball mark repair tool...fill it in with a sand/seed mix if your course provides it. If not, don't worry about it, it will fill back in quicker than you can believe.

I have a bottle that came with my golf cart that I put sand and seed mix in and cover the divot. The course provides it for us. Some courses don't want you to put the divot back because they say it won't grow back anyway.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer here. So if it's an issue, and I think it should be, you should probably just to talk to your greenskeeper. If he or she is a professional, he'll know what works and what doesn't work on his particular piece of ground. The USGA is big on golf course conditioning and management.
