I am depressed!

I usually smile about getting rain, to make the grass grow and all, but this is truly depressing. Last Monday-Tuesday I had 16.5 inches of rain here at my house, and of course the requisite flooding in town, and OF COURSE no golf for several days as the courses dried out. Now I'm looking out my back door at the rain guage which is showing over 5 inches of rain just since 10 this morning...it's 3 PM.

At least it's not 32* and raining!

But yeah, that's a lot of rain! Cart paths only?

I feel your pain. I am in Pearland and last week after 2 days of rain we had almost 20 inches. It has been raining since I got up this morning at 5:30. I have been watching the water rise on the course all day. Our greens are now brown from all the water.

Sorry about all the rain. Honestly I wish we'd get a good day or two of rain out here in California, as it's been really dry. Not to depress you even more, but it's 80 degrees and sunny here and has been for the past 2 weeks. The courses out here could use some rain for sure.

Loins,
Those folks in Texas and Chicago don’t want to here about the good weather! This is the biggest mistake that folks, that travel with me, make when we visit somewhere in the Winter.

You're right Hack,

I'll keep quiet about the sun and the 80 degree weather and the short's and short sleeves. It was wrong of me to talk about it. Now where the heck did I put my swim trunks?

Just messing with you guys...I really am sorry about your poor weather. I hope it lets up soon for you.

It's not our fault that we only have 2 seasons here in Los Angeles. 9 months of Summer and 3 months of Semi Summer.

I was getting a bit down because our rainy season was here and winter kicking in,course is muddy but playable, have to really watch ball from tee as it can plug, losing a ball after an ok shot is painful,we have a few winter greens on the go,but i guess i am lucky as still get to play

It's really been an unusual October. Rain like that usually happens in early September down here. By and large, we have awesome weather...I've played golf in shorts on New Years Day on several occasions!

Ladywalker, thanks for the commiseration! Ringin' and Hack...thanks for the laughs! It's usually me making those cracks. It is supposed to be dry and cool for the weekend. I've scheduled a par 3 tournament for my MGA that I'm looking forward to running.

Well, I am here in Southern California and it was 80 degrees today, but we had some seirous wildfires that consumed the lives of 4 firefighters and thousands and thousands acres were burned........ Even though the weather was nice and the golf is great, this dry weather out here is deadly sometimes

Yeah that was a real shame. Especially considering they're saying that it's arson. I hope they find the jerks that started that fire, and throw them in the fire.

With all of the smoke in the air tonight from the fires, the moon is almost blood red. Very erie looking.

Jwaldrop our couples golf scheduled for tonight was cancelled (duh), but I have Walker and I tee times for Sat and Sunday. Cart path here we come! I guess all things being equal, I will take our 10 months of (semi to full) summer months and two months of other stuff, compared to the deadly dry of some other states. Have fun with your tournament.

Even though our course is really wet, by Sunday we'll be fine. I got the idea for the par 3 tournament at the Battleground in Deer Park when I saw all the shorty tee boxes that were about the length of par 3's. I'll set up all 18 holes at distances from 65 to 225 yards. We've played it a couple of other times and enjoyed it.
