Your "coulda, shoulda, woulda" round this year?

We all have the coulda, shoulda, woulda's with golf. Just curious to see what everyones was this year?

Mine was at the Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach. Shot -1 on the front and + 4 on the back for a 75. Had three double bogeys and a bogey on the card on the backside. So I guess the "coulda" of my round was that if not for the double bogeys I would have shot 69 assuming I made pars on those blow up holes.

I joined some friends who were already playing. At our course, #5 comes back to the clubhouse and 6 tee is right there, so I joined them there. From 6 through 18, I was even par. They decided to play 1 through 5 with me to see what I was gonna score.

You guessed this ending already, didn't you?

Yep, that's right. I went bogie, bogie, double, and on #4 ( a tough little par 5) I was just off the green in 4 trying to save bogie with a decent chip and putt. Instead, I decided this was a really good time to blade one about 20 yards over the green. From past experience, I was d e a d from there, looking at 3 good shots at best. I was so mad, I walked to the cart and drove to the clubhouse, snatched my clubs off the cart and drove home.

I told my wife the story and she said, "You can beat me if it'll make you feel better." and then she just died laughing... Very funny.

Musta been Paradise Valley...playing in a net score tournament...at least 4 Tee shots that either hooked or sliced OB, thus 8 extra strokes on the scorecard...I had a net 76...net 72 was the winning score

My goal was to break 80 this year,i did do it at a course on holiday but alas it was only a par 63,however i was chuffed with the 74,twice on my local course i have had putt to make 79,one time it was along putt and 18th difficult green, the 2nd time was more frustrating,i had an 8 ft putt but with very difficult break,i thought if it went in then it would have been 80,i try not to count but knew it was thereabouts, the ball started to break ok running left to right and stopped right on the very edge of hole, turns out it would have been 79 if it went in,however on both these 80 pb,s i did throwawy shots, its too late now as winter now and courses playing short,so heres to next summer.

It happened twice in the same tournament - The Border Senior Amateur Championship at East London Golf Club, one of our finest seaside tests of golf which is why we go there every year. Saturday, stiff wind from the East - out in 37 (even) back in 43 (7 over) for 80 with 2 bad shots that cost me two doubles ( we're all going to drop shots somewhere, right? but not 2 ata time!), Sunday the wind switched and was blowing a minor gale - so what happens -out in 35 (2 under) having missed 2 putts of under 2 ft! (I had 4 birdies and an eagle - par 4 6th hole) and back in 41 for 76.

This is one of those tracks where you can't drop your guard for a minute and in the 2nd round I did it 3 times - the 2 missed putts and then the classic.

Picture this, a long (400yd at sea level) par4, dogleg left across a valley with the wind blowing in my face but rt to left across the dogleg and I'm 200 yds out. I've been hitting my short irons stiff all day long but we've got a wait on our habds so imagination gets control. What if I hit a stinging draw with a 3 wood into the wind aiming at the bunker rt of the green - the worst that cn happen is I don't get my draw, hit the bunker make 5.

However, I go for it, hit it fat, high and left - into the bush - unplayable lie drop, play 4 and then 3 jack for 7!!

This game -- coulda, woulda, shoulda! Who hasn't been there!

I shot 74 with 4 lip-outs last spring. Hit every one of those putts just like I intended.

On a similar note, my wife used to ask me if I won when I came from my Saturday rounds. Now she asks, "well, what are your "if-onlys" today?"

My home course is a 33+34 = par 67. I shot a 39 on the front and shot +12 on the next four holes. I followed that with a bogie, par, triple, par, triple for +19 on the back. 39+53= 92. Overall, it's one of my better scores, but still......
