What distance do you KNOW you are going to make birdie?

If I am 100 yards out exactly, I almost can guarantee you a birdie.....I have that exact 58* 100 yard swing in my memory.....its my favorite...Whats yours?

About 6 inches from the hole, with 2 shots to play before making par, is the only time I KNOW i can make birdie!

NikeRep07,

Very good thread. For me, its tough. I have a pretty good short game, so anything < 100 yards I feel pretty comfortable.

I've found that my most comfortable range is 85 yards. That is my 3/4 PW.

Second would probably be 42 yards. That's my 1/2 Sand Wedge.

I'm with Inconsistent, but I'm pretty solid from about 2' in. Seriously, I like a 1/2-3/4 wedge, actually better than a full shot, so that's around 60-100 yards... inside of that to the fringe it's a bit trickier for me.

OK OK...You guys are beating me up about this...Im not saying its gonna be a birdie every time, but when I'm on the course at 100 yards exactly im thinking birdie, and nothing else........haha....So maybe it only happens about 1/3 times but you know what i mean........

2 feet here also.

And 150 yards in for a second shot on a par 5.

My problem is that too many times when I finally get to within 100 yards, par is a distant memory!

Since I'm a high handicapper, and playing bogey golf is my current goal, birdies usually only come when everything happens just right, or I make a long putt. There are a few courses I play with shortish par 5s that I can reach in two, or at least be around the green. Then if it's just a bump and run or short chip, I have a good chance to get up and down for birdie.

My most positive vibes happen, also, when I am 100-105 yards out, with my 49* wedge in my hands. I feel like I'm gonna put it close from that distance.

I've gotten pretty conservative on par 5's now, in that if I don't feel like I've got a really good chance of hitting the green in 2, I'm laying it down to the 100 yard marker every time. Made a lot more birdies that way, rather than putting a 3-wood in trouble.

I feel like a birdie from 145 with my PW and then shorter with the gw, sw,lw. Thats where I start to get dissapointed in pars. Its nuts but I also feel the same way from 215 with my 3H. Its amazing how good that thing feels and performs.

I don`t count on getting birdies, par would be real good for me.If I get to a 7 iron distance I normally get it on the green, then its up to my putter.I rarely three putt if I get on within 20-25 ft of the hole.My best chances come down my lag putt getting close to the hole. Of course when you get on a par 4 in 5???

Between 50-115 yards I believe I'll get up and down every time. That's from 'L swing' 60* to full shot 50* In reality I get up and down 1 of 4 but it never changes my confidence

I feel pretty confident when I'm about 120 yards out that I can stick my 48* PW to a distance that leaves me with a decent putt for birdie.....but now making the putt, well that's a whole other problem...

For me, if I'm on the green in regulation, I am 99% certain I'll make par - if I'm GIR within three feet of the pin, I'll make birdie.

When I've missed the green, I do always tell myself (sometimes in a very strange voice), that I just need to chip-in for birdie....... anybody else speak to themselves in funny voices on the course??

Just me then
.

Yes, but if I repeated what I say to myself here, I'd have to ban me.
