My Dad and I have always wanted to play Pebble Beach and I'm thinking of actually doing it this summer. Just wondering if anyone here has and how they liked it. Also, this wasn't very clear on their website, do you have to stay at the resort cause that adds a ton to the overall price?
I played Pebble with my Brother, Mother, and Father and it was truly one of those moments in my life that I will never forget. The cost was $325 each at the time, and the room cost was $350 per night.
You do not have to stay at the hotel. By not staying at the hotel, you do not get a guaranteed tee time. Basically, you hope for an open tee time (which does occur).
Here's some advice about the course and area. Get a Caddie for the round, cart path is not very functional, plus the caddie will read the greens better than you could imagine. There's a great italian restaurant in Carmel that has a tree growing through the roof. It was amazing, but I can't remember the name. There is a town called Gilroy that is the Garlic capital of the world. Gilroy throws a nice festival at the end of July every year.
6th through the 10th hole are just incredible. The views and the atmosphere are just amazing.
Been there 4 times. Each time an expeirence in itself. If it's a one time deal go and live the life. If not go, with time to burn and explore!! Beutiful country!!
I almost ended up as the assistant at Spyglass. As a single you'll have no problem getting out almost any time of year on those courses. If you stay at the resort you can get a drastically reduced rate. But for godsakes, play the other diamonds there. Aside from the AT&T Rotation, hit up Pacific Grove Golf Links, De Laveaga, Pasatiempo, and Bayonet/Blackhorse. Stay in Salinas or Gilroy; Gilroy has a great outlet mall as well. But don't go during the garlic festival. I was there this year and I just don't get it....
I stayed at the hotel, booking six months ahead. I got the last reserved tee time. It will cost you ,but it is money well spent. The course is worth the extra cash, escpecially around 7,8,8 9 and 10.The pace of play is very slow, make sure you play either spring or autumn/fall as the morning mist hangs around longer in the summer. I stayed up the road in Carmel and enjoyed the area, spending the last night of my stay at Pebble Beach Hotel.
Play Poppy Hills ,Spanish Bay and Spyglass if you can.
wow, thanks for all of the responses. I'm not sure now if I'll be able to do it this year, if we want to do it right. I guess I need to figure out what the difference in price is if we don't stay at the hotel, my Grandma lives in Monterey so we'd be staying with her. Regardless, I can't wait to play this course!
