I've averaged 2 rounds per year for about 25 years. I've always enjoyed golf - but never able to make it a priority. Pretty much a mid to upper 90s golfer. I played a round locally about a month ago and that was my first full round in 18 months - shot a 106 (greens were like glass - must have had 50 putts).
But next week I head to Myrtle Beach with 19 other guys from my church for their annual golf outing - 4 straight days of golf - and I am pumped. (I just joined this church in June). Here are the courses we're playing:
Never heard of these places and they mean nothing to me - but I'm excited just the same. Looking forward to the golf and fellowship and nightly devotions. The most interesting part of the trip will be how this old (55) body will hold up. I'm terribly out of shape and am usually pooped after one round - and often a little sore the next day. Wonder what 4 days will do to me? May kill me...but what a way to go!!!

Awesome sounds like a great trip...Sounds like my college spring break trips...We would play 36 holes a day with our golf team, and then had devotions at night for about an hour....(Christian college)
That's going to be great. If I where you I may try to get out and play as much as possible before you go. That way you can improve your game and get your body ready. It would **** to be in pain the last three days and not be able to enjoy the beautiful golf.

You're going to love it... It's great down there, and you've got some good courses to play.
I'm getting excited for my Myrtle trip too. I leave on Feb 1 and get back Feb 12th. The package we get has 7 rounds of golf, but we usually play at least one round a day, but usually more if weather and time allow. All the guys back there think I'm nuts for flying out from Southern Cal., but I love it.
Sounds to me like the best possible way to go if I only played a few rounds a year. The devotions seem to help keep one grounded! Enjoy every second. I can't remember the 3 courses I played, I have to go look at my golf ball collection but I do remember all three being fair courses.
Second, enjoy your golf weekend. It sounds like a blast! We do a annual golf trip also and it is a blast. Make no mistake though, it will wear you out. We typically do 4 rounds in three days and by the last day you are spent. We always talk a big game about late we are going to stay up (playing poker and telling lies) and some how everyone is out by 10!
As far as the courses, I have played at Sea Trails but we played the Bryd Course. It was in good shape with some challenging greens. Just enough water to be pretty. I thought it was fair. I have also played at Myrtle Beach National - the Kings Course. It was in fantastic shape but it was a monster. It has some fun holes, like #6. Which is a long par five with basicall two fairways - the short way that requires a 200 yard shot over water and then 180 yard to the hole all carrying water vs. 512 yards of fairway on the safe route.
A Couple of Suggestions:
1) You may want to start walking this week, at least a couple miles a day, just to get your legs up a little. We have had a lot of rain in SC the last couple weeks and are starting to see a lot of cart path only down here.
2) Make sure you eat well (chicken, pasta etc). at night to have your strength up for the next day.
3) Get up 30 min earlier, just to stretch
4) Don't be afraid to move to the white tees for one round of the four if you are struggling. Some of these courses are just mean. I moved up once or twice and starting making a couple pars and even an birdie and even though the other 19 were playing the blues, it allowed me to enjoy my time a lot more.
5) Have fun - it will be one of your best weekends of the year.
