Looking for a little help here, Me and a buddy of mine want to travel to Augusta to watch practice for the Masters in April. Only problem is we don't have tickets. Ebay is out of the question (between $250 and $400 each) I have never been but I understand the face value is only like $35 or $40. Question I have is do you think we would be able to get tickets in the parking lot for a reasonable price? Has anyone been in the past few years that could lend me some info? Thanks
It's a shame that people are getting that much for a ticket that's under $30 if you are lucky enough to get one through the lottery. Augusta Nat'l should come up with a way to track them so if a ticket is sold for more than its face value, the owner should be removed permanently from the lottery list. JMO.
Hey Bill those tickets are not face value from that site, its scalping, the way they get away with it is they say the ticket is face value and they send along a program or some little trinket for $200. Face value for those tickets is under $50
Put your name on the waiting list and start looking for your tickets in a couple of years.
The lottery system pretty much ensures that you'll wait a couple of years to get your tickets or leaves you with the opportunity to buy some online for a ridiculous price. Scalping leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
The Masters is an amazing tournament. The ticket prices are ridiculously low - face value. They could charge 10 times the price and sell out just as completely and have waiting lists. Parking on the grounds is also free. And once you are in there they could gouge you for food, but cokes are like $0.75, a ham and cheese on rye sandwich (and it is delicious) is $2.00, candy bar $0.50. You get the idea - and there are places to get food located all around the course. The last Braves game I went to, I got 2 hotdogs, 2 cokes , and 1 order of fries, and it was $25. At the Masters $25 will feed two or three people all day.
As far as the practice round lottery goes, I don't remember what year it started, but it seems it has been ten years or so since it began. I have entered the lottery every year, but have only gotten tix the first year and last year. Once you have entered it that first time, they will send you a letter to apply every year.

Well, it appears that if one is currently without tickets/badges, there is little option other than dealing with the scalpers...

Tournament or "Series" Badges (Thursday through Sunday) have been sold to those on our patron list, which was closed due to demand in 1972. A waiting list began in 1972, and was closed in 1978. It reopened in 2000, and it too is now closed. No applications for "Series" Badges are currently being accepted.
