Yes!! My handicap dropped!

I just got to looking at my scorecard from Sunday..and I noticed something very cool...can you guess what it is?? MY HANDICAP DROPPED!! I was a 5, now I'm a 4! I've looked at my previous cards, to confirm it. This is great! The only thing I can figure, is I've been working on my club selection...I've started to hit a little smoother, and sometimes I'm teeing off with my 3 wood, or iron.(instead of always grabbing the driver) The result is that I'm hitting more accurately, and I'm more relaxed, so naturally my shots shape up better. I am so happy!

Well, that's cool stuff. It's funny, too, because a lot of guys get ticked off when their handicap drops, because of tournament play.

I felt the same as you, when I dropped below 7 for the first time. It's exciting, and you feel like you've gone to another level!

Good for you. The improvements slow down as your game gets closer to par.

I think i had it in me the whole time, but I was a risk taker when I played. I always went for it. I've starting to play a little smarter..it seems to be paying off. I wonder if I can get it down to a 3 before the summer???

I really don't know what else there is too improve on...I'm a reat driver, excellent iron player...good putter...my chipping..that's what I'll improve, I think. I mean I pretty good, but is room for some improvement. I usually do get Par, but occasionally I miss it. I need to worh on better consistancy on longer courses, and I think I'll have it.

Ben Hogan said that 18 was the perfect 18 hole score and until you shoot that there is always room for improvement. I think it was in response to a question asking him whether some great round he'd shot was a perfect round.

Oh ok, I gotcha! I thought you speaking of a specific hole on a secific course...sorry! The only Ace I've ever gotten was from 160, with a 9 iron..but I doubt that'll happen again. But then again, you never know..

Congratulations on realizing that you don't have swing out of your shoes everytime you swing the club. To me this is more impressive than lowering your handicap. It took me years to finally realize that distance doesn't matter, it's how many strokes are on the scorecard...since I realized it my golf game is better than it's ever been. Now it's just a matter of holding on to that and not reverting back to the ego golfer, that's how you pile strokes on.

Congrats, that is a very nice handicap.

I'd love to get mine down that low, but I'd have to knock 3 or 4 strokes off of it.
