Are there any golfing computer games, which I can play on my PC which are actually any good? Also, does anyone practice with the wii? Is that any good as well? I had a quick go on wii bowling and it was quite fun, maybe a bit of light hearted golf for a rainy day? :P

Good yes... realistic absolutely not. I think your best bet for a fun but unrealistic golf game is Tiger Woods whatever the latest version is. Unrealistic how? I hit a 46 on an 18 hole course (st andrews), enough said.
I've heard Wii golf is bad by the way. It's supposed to be fun but if you do a REAL golf swing it doesn't work properly in the game.
Microsoft Golf 3.0. Very stable under any Windows version, nice graphics and sounds, modest system requirements. A tip: set your players as "beginner" for more realistic scores. If you set them as pros you will score under par as soon as you get a good command of the game (I mean –8, perhaps –10, not more unrealistic than that).
I just bought a Real World Golf for the PS2 with the Gametrax controller that you have to wear these gloves that are attached to strings into the controller on the floor, and you have to make a real swing, and based on your swing, it actually follows your path and indicates where you would have made contact on the club. So you can slice, top, chili-dip and hook. The only problem is as an amateur, even with the perfect swing, I can hit the Driver and 3W about the same distance (195 yards). I haven't tried the other levels of difficulty which are supposed to require better swing and contact, but increase the distance as well...Overall, it is fun, but a bit challenging to play a tournament with 477yd par 4's and only getting 190 on the drives and approach shots, chipping and hoping you can 1 putt for par...
I found Links to be good also. You can also download some user-designed courses that are quite good or if you have nothing better to do then you could design your own.
Oh and as for the Wii - it's fun but I don't think the current golf games are realistic....they are designed only to be fun for non-golfers. However it may have the possibility of being quite close to the real thing or being used as a training aid.

Well Tiger Woods 07 now has a loft stick. The non-golfer will not know what playing with the loft of the club will do. I've played this game online vs other people and most don't use loft stick while I was using it and getting close to the pin.
Although the spin feature in golf games are unrealistic.
Is there any software out there like a more advanced version simulation that could simulate a round of golf without me leaving my house id prob pay what 500-1000 for some very nice equipment.
The old Links series.... probably can find it on Amazon, then go to the Links country Club site and feast in the available courses....
You can even get Augusta ( and the par 3 course as well), if you are resourceful and don't mind spending a buck or two....
You don't have to spend a penny to get the Augusta courses for Links 2003. For my money the Tiger Woods games don't hold a candle to the now 4 year old Links 2003. Tiger is much more of an arcade style game, while Links is a better simulation of golf. But that's the opinion of a long time Links player who has tried 3 version of the TW game hasn't been able to find any real interest in it. This is a screenshot from #11 on Augusta 2006 for Links, and youcan see the Par 3 12th in the background. I had to greatly reduce the resolution in order to get it down to the 97kb that the site allows for uploads. In game the course is gorgeous.
