Golf Magazine

I was looking for a golf magazine and I would like to hear any suggestions you might have. The choices are:
Golf Digest (I was originally going for this one)
Golf Magazine
Golf World
Sports Illustrated Golf Edition
and Golf Tips
Thanks in advance.

I just paid for a two year sub to Golf Illustrated. It's the oldest of all the golf mags and I think it is the very best "How to" for the amateur golfer. Their instruction and tips articles are very good. I dropped by sub to Golf Digest...got tired of all the super expensive ads that have no connection to the average Joe out there, in my opinion.

I just ordered "Golf Punk" magazine. I'll have to get back to you if it's any good. I have always liked Golf Magazine the best of any domestic mag.

I just got a thing in the mail today from golfweek, $37 for a year and includes 2 sleeves of Pro V1's. Trying to decide....

I already get GOLF and Golf Digest. Keep them after I'm done too, have a couple of stacks going (2 years worth).

Me and my dad were in a Golf World Magazine... Back in 2003 when Ernie Els had the round of the day going at Harbor Town and then collapsed on 16 after he hit it out of bounds. Me and my dad were in a picture by Ernie Else standing over his ball that had went out of bounds! That was the same year Davis Love chipped in on the 18th! What a day that was!!!!

Anyways,

Golf Digest, Golf World, and Golf Magazine are the best.

Ryan

I either currently receive or have received every mag you have listed. Golf junkie here... What you want the magazine for should determine which you get. If you are looking more for instruction or equipment info, Golf Illustrated and Golf Tips are what you are looking for. One thing I notice in those magazines is they tend to advertise lesser known products. Many smaller manufacturers can't/don't want to pay to advertise in the big glossies so they come here - they're a good resource for names you may not have heard.
If you are looking to follow tour golf, Golf World, SI Golf, and Golfweek are the way to go. They cover the pros.
Golf Digest and Golf Mag are the standard bearers, with a little bit of everything - lessons and tips, interviews, course highlights, clubtests, features. It was mentioned before the advertising tends to be what you find during PGA Tour events - products geared toward the affluent consumer.

Here's a secret - halfpricedmags.com. I have not always been pleased with them, but they sell mags at ridiculous discounts. Check there before anywhere else. Last year I ordered 7-8 subscriptions for about $40. Of course I never read most of the magazines because I was too overloaded...

Well, I get both GOLF and Golf Digest as I mentioned. The instruction in both is of limited value to me just because I am a lefty and I have to reverse everything. I like GOLF a little better though, it seems to be a bit more down to earth. Golf Digest has some articles that I scratch my head over, like 'Mr. Style'. I could care less if a tour golfers' belt matches his shoes or if his colors coordinate.

Sounds like I need to check out Golf Illustrated, but I have never even seen one on a magazine stand or seen anyone with one.

I would say "Golf" over the Digest as well -

Xnavyct, if I wore the clothes "Mr Style" suggests, then I wouldn't be able to afford green fees!
