Sunday morning our 4-some teed off at 7am. It was a warm morning but by 7:30 it began to sprinkle. At 8am it was RAINING! Now let me say this....it rains here in Huntington Beach about 5 days a YEAR, and that's enough to give us WIMPS a heart-attack . I just don't know HOW you guys back east can do it???
Anyway, we are getting SOAKED to the bone. None of us has "rain-gear" and we sure as **** don't own umbrellas, but we're having fun so we decide to "play on". Midway thru the round I can barely hold on to a club because the grips are so wet.....****, I didn't know you were supposed to COVER your bag???
The 8th hole tee box is an elevated one that you hit over a lake. As soon as I started my follow-thru.....whoosh.....my SUMO2 flew about 50 feet in the air and "ker-plunk"......right in the lake!
Now my partners are rolling around in the wet grass laughing so hard their sides hurt....where as me....well, you can't tell if it's just rain on my face.....or I'm crying.
The course 'super said he would try to get it this week, but I have learned that the 5 days a year it rains here....I'm going BOWLING!!!

I'm one of those guys out East that is used to the rain. We got to play 18 on July 4th last year. It rained very hard for about 30 minutes, so we just pulled out the poncho and waited it out. The course was so flooded that it was coming up onto the floorboards of the carts. Often we couldn't see where the path was and most of the red tees were under a foot of water. It was cool having to drive 200+ yards to get over a body of water that is usually only a 20 yard wide creek.
We even had to be careful on our approach shots so we didn't get the large puddles of standing water on the greens between the ball and the hole.
Some of the older guys bailed out during the rain, but most of us stayed and played. In fact, there were very few from everyone on the course that left. It was one of my more memorable games.
Man that really *****!! I probably would have jumped in after it also. Not to bring up anything bad, but do you think sitting in the bottom of a lake will affect the performance/integrity of the driver?
Let us know if you get it back!

I bet you won't forget about that little outing. Thats a real tough one to swallow. Hope you get it back. Thats a really shinny penny you just threw in the pond.
Man... if it was me, I wouldn't hesitate to jump into the lake and rescue the driver. After all you are already soaked from the rain. I just couldn't imagine the agony of sleepless nights without my new driver in my bag.
Great story! On a serious note however, what grip did you have installed on the S2 after the shaft upgrade? I had a buddy who seemed to lose his driver whenever it rained UNTIL he swapped his Winn for a GP Tour Velvet.

Other than the "baptism", how'd you hit it?
When I had the new shaft put on I replaced the grip with a Wynns. I don't know the exact name of the model grip, but it's that one that is a goldish-copper color. It felt nice and tacky, but when it got wet it acted like a SPONGE!
