Can you change steel shafts?

I read a lot and hear about people changing the shafts on their clubs and was curious whether it's possible to change say steel shafts for graphite ones? I've only heard of people changing graphite ones so I don't know if this can be done.

It can. Most OEM clubs with steel shafts have a .335 taper tip (unless things have changed in the last couple years), so this is something you're going to have to keep in mind. You'll either have to buy taper tipped graphite shafts, or have the hosels bored out to .375". Since most of the "good" graphite shafts for irons come in .370, you'd be limiting yourself greatly sticking with the taper tipped shafts that are available.

Cool

I think that should be .355 rather than .335 for taper tip steel shafts. And all other iron shafts are .370". Woods come with either .335 or .350 shafts. I've never seen a .350 steel shaft for a wood. so I don't know if one exists. There's really no reason the have a .350 steel shaft for woods. The reason some woods are built to take a .350 shaft is that it's easier/cheaper to build a graphite shaft with a lower torque with the slightly larget diameter tip. That's the reason Wilson went with the Fat Shaft concept a few years ago. A few months ago I got a great deal on some wedge heads with .355" hosels, so I just drilled them out to accept the .370" steel shafts I normally have on hand. Pretty easy to do if you need to do this.
