Shaft Flex

So I have a question on shaft flex in regards to distance. And just to avoid the answer "go get fitted". I get a lot of conflicting information from the golf stores. So, I'm turning to you guys.

I have a regular flex shaft in my driver. I hit it ok, but my misses are usually left with the occasional duck hook. On a well struck shot my carry is approx. 250 yards. I went with the regular flex because my swing speed is approx. 90 mph with the driver. So my question is does a regular flex always produce the longest distance? If I went with a stiffer flex is it possible that I could gain distance or just accuracy? In other words, would someone with a high swing speed hit a regular flex further than a stiff?

its a comfort thing really. i would hit the ball further with a senior shaft if i could control my swing that slow. but i just cant. the kick point and torque on a shaft have a lot to do with the issues you described as well. That being said, even if i WAS able to swing slow enough to make a senior shaft work, i still wouldnt. the stiffer the flex the more control. ive seriously thought about going to steel in my driver many times.

Miz is right..with the stiff shaft your going to have more control/workability of the ball with your driver..although you may lose some distance due to the fact ur not creating that much torque in the shaft..but nothing major..around 5-15 yrds tops id say..Just experiment..got a buddy that has stiff...take it to the range and see..you never REALLY know until you try..
