Tommy is playing in the Wachovia Championship. He Monday qualified in a playoff.
Wow, I had no idea! I can't wait to see his scores, although I expect him to be in the 80s both days before mercifully missing the cut. He's much better than I, but he's not Tour material ... at least from what I've seen.
Tommy Gainey in an PGA Tour event... I'm glad he's going to get to play. I'll have to keep an eye out for his scores, though I'm sure TGC will have some kind of coverage directed specifically at a former "Big Breaker."
He shot a 31 on the front nine of his qualifier and a 36 on the back nine. In a playoff he won by making par on the first playoff hole and birdied the second hole to seal the deal.
On Thursday he tees off at 8:54 am and on Friday at 1:59 pm. His two playing partners are Craig Kanada and Michael Putnam.

Hope he makes the cut.
Well, I stand corrected ... at least for the moment. I would never have thought him capable of a 67 in a pressure-packed qualifier. I watched it again last night, and every time there seemed to be a little pressure, he said he felt light-headed. Guess that was just for the cameras.
I like Tommy, and I wish him well. But I still have my doubts.
He's really impressed me, and he's the only one on the show that has. I love the Big Break, but some of the contestants are a joke. He has gotten better and better, and I will be watching to see how he does!
I hate that he was even par thru 17 and doubled his last hole.
I bet he learned a lot on that last hole...hopefully he doesn't obsess over it and uses it as a sobering reminder that golf demands your utmost attention and a steady nerve. Go TTG!
