His short game bible is the best book on the subject from 100yards in, it has totally changed my game. But that is just my opinion.

Peltz teaches great methods in those books, Even a beginner like me has a whole new approach when near and on the green. It's technical stuff though. If you start looking at golf as a science is it still fun for you?

But you didn't indicate how it's changed your game. For the better?

FYI--They have it on DVD if you don't want to read it (or if you are a visual person).

Yes for the better, I learned better management of the use of wedges from 120yards in, proper way to chip, pitch, etc. There is almost too much information in there. I read sections of it over and over.

Re: David Pelz Putting and Short Game Bible

My current thinking on Pelz: T.M.I., Too Much Information, albeit some otherwise very good information. I'm mainly referring to his Short Game Bible and his recommendations about carrying four wedges and what to do with all of them. For newer and/or marginally skilled golfers, it's just too much to process...far better to have one or two clubs you believe in than four that you have to choose between for any given shot. Highly skilled players might benefit from his instruction--Phil, of course, is a whiz with his wedges--but the rest of us mere mortals might be better off simplifying things.

I agree that it is too much information. If you can dig into and bring out the core I believe it will help anyone. The core basics are strong tools and the rest of the information can round out your ability over time. THe longer I study it the more blocks I add to my short game.

Re: David Pelz Putting and Short Game Bible

I took his one day short game school when it came to town. Excellent, excellent program - well worth the $$$. In the past, I'd rather be 120 out than 20 - terrified of my wedge play. Now I'm confident with my wedges and out of the sand. I own the book and use it as a reference tool to reinforce what I was taught.
