prize money schedual
Can anybody tell me how the prize money in major tournements is calculated? For instance if the total purse is $1,000,000 what is the prize for 1st place, 2nd place etc.

I don't know how they calculate it but I went back and did some calculations for the Masters and the Players Championship.
Masters Finish - Prize Money As % of Total Purse 1st - 17.6% 2nd (Tie) - 7.3% 5th (Tie) - 3.7% 7th (Tie) - 3.1% 9th - 2.8% 10th (Tie) - 2.4% 13th (Tie) - 1.8% The Players Championship Finish - Prize Money As % of Total Purse 1st - 18.0% 2nd - 10.8% 3rd (Tie) - 5.8% 5th - 4.0% 6th (Tie) - 3.1% 11th - 2.5% 12th (Tie) - 2.0%

Did a couple other calculations.
The top 15 finishers in the Masters took home 68.5% of the total purse. The top 15 finishers in the Players Championship took 70.4% of the total purse.
