I might play this weekend in TGC Tour event at Darby Creek (Ohio). Has anyone else played one of these? This used to be the Addidas-Michelob and I heard good things about those events.
Well the field was booked so I wont be playing. It seems a bit pricey to play anyway. They want $90.00 to play in it which is a bit steep considering the course fees are around $40.00 and as a non member of the tour I would collect nothing for a good finish. I was just trying to play some competitive rounds before the Columbus Amateur. I have heard great things about this tour but I would only be able to play 3 events so joining the tour for $200.00 doesnt make allot of sence. The course they will be playing is Darby Creek which has a very tough back nine if you dont have your game you can really blow up I cant wait to see the winning score..
What do you get when you play a Golf Channel Tour event? Is it just one round? Do they have Golf Channel Tours for various regions or is it just one Tour?
Just go to thegolfchannel.com and click the tour link and everything will be explained. I played in the group before the golf channel started sponsoring it. And I also played the Edwin Watts Tour. I love to play tournaments but I quit both of these and have no intention of going back.
Both of the groups played the courses to long for the handicap levels of the players. They had the Champ flight playing from the tips and the next levels playing the courses at about 6700 yards. That's pretty long for 24 handicappers in Florida. But the worst part was the time of the rounds. Never played in under 5 hours and most were at least 5 1/2. Mostly because of the difficulty of the course, but also because the word "tournament" was there. Caused a lot of people to take a lot more time on shots and putts.
