Goodbye clubs

I just got my clubs stolen when I left my clubs in my friend's car over the weekend. The crook(s) stole pretty much everything, CD's, clothes, sunglasses, but he was generous enough to leave my golf cleats alone.

Now my only regret is not writing the serial numbers down so I can at least report it. I guess rental clubs for me until I can gather enough money to gets some new clubs.

Cool Re: Goodbye clubs

Home owner's insurance should cover your clubs being stolen. See if his will cover them, if not your's should. Call police first before you call the insurance company. Good luck with all this.

Yes...they should cover your clubs. I know our insurance company does. Also check with your friends car insurance company. They may also cover the clubs.

Sorry for your loss. People **** sometimes.

Re: Goodbye clubs

I just talked to my friend and he does happen to have home owner's insurance. Although he claimed my clubs as his, I don't think his insurance will cover it since there was 2 set of clubs in the trunk.

One set, two sets, what the difference? If the clubs were stolen and you file a police report, the insurance company should cover them, less any deductable of course. Car insurance will not cover it, it has to be home owners insurance. I know this from when my car was stolen. I had to file a second claim with my homeowners insurance for all my personal property that was in my car when it was stolen. Car insurance paid for the car, home owners paid for my stuff in the car. I think this is rather stupid, but it's the way it works.

Re: Goodbye clubs

So my friend just got a call from the captain telling him they recovered all the stolen goods. Hopefully everything's there, although I did get a little excited purchasing some new clubs with the insurance money. Used clubs that is...l

Re: Goodbye clubs

That's good news...I'm playing Maltby components bought at a discount but it would still bum me out to have them stolen and I know I'd be to get them back because they already know my game.

Re: Goodbye clubs

So, now that you got the old clubs back, and the insurance money paid for the new ones you purchased, what are you going to do now? Are you going to give the money back? Or take the clubs back and return the insurance money?

Re: Goodbye clubs

If you report clubs stolen, file a claim and the insurance company reimburses you for the clubs, then the clubs become the property of the insurance company. You would have to negotiate with them on getting your clubs back and returning the money.

My sticks were stolen 2 years ago, and never recovered. Thru homeowner's insurance I was able to get a check for about $1500, after a $1K deductible. For items that I didn't not have pictures for, I went to the OEM's website, or eBay, and found a picture, downloaded it and printed it out for their records.

Remember that this equipment is priced at REPLACEMENT COST. So, if your driver was a "top of the line" Taylor Made, at the time you purchased it, then your replacement cost for that driver would be the RETAIL COST of the current "top of the line" Taylor Made driver.

You would complete a spreadsheet for all stolen items: clubs, bag, towel(s), balls, tees, divot repair tools, raingear, umbrella, headcovers, firstaid items, ball markers. It amazing how much all of that adds up to in Replacement cost.

After you complete the spreadsheet, it's "analyzed" by some MBA at the insurance company and they compare your prices with their research, then make minor adjustments and cut you a check. When you cash that check, you remove any claim you have on the stolen goods.

Clubs were found before my insurance company even started on my case.
