Lip Wedge

Does anyone have any experience with a playing partner who has a "lip wedge" in their bag. This is the guy who has a smart comment to make every time someone makes a bad shot or blows a putt. I've been playing golf for 25 years and never experienced someone who is as bad as one of the guys I currently play with regularly. With any bad stroke he either makes a smart comment or tells you what you did wrong and seems to take great pleasure in pointing out a persons shortcomings. He does it on his own bad swings too which he thinks justifies him doing it on everyone elses too. Unfortunately I have to play with him because he is one of my sponsors at the club I've applied to join. Once I'm a member in 6-8 months I wont have to play with him, but until then is my only choice to grin and bear it? Any suggestions on how to quiet one of these guys?

I believe it's against the rules of golf to offer instruction or critiism during a round. He would incure a penality for each such remark, and you'd be correct to tell him so.

And such an act just might blow cottonseed's chance to join the club. Not a big deal to me, or maybe to others, but it sounds like it's important to him. I have virtually unlimited golfing opportunities where I live... such may not be the case for him. If you want something badly enough, you will put up with a lot to get it.

This is something that I'd just shrug off... I've played with a lot such golfers over the years. You just learn to ignore them as much as possible (in this case, trying not to offend while ignoring his "advice") .

Guys like that are always gonna have something to say...but I've found if you starting sinking a bunch of putts that'll shut 'em up for a while.

Re: Lip Wedge

Good point shade, I guess I'll just have to work on my putting more.
