thi was when i first started playing. I had a huge tree in front of me. 120+ to green or so. iknew i had a bad slice so i aimed left the ball cuved around the tree and hit the flag stick. it bounced off and landed 2 feet away
unfortunately, this was on the pactice green and not on the course so you may not consder it a shot, but i liked it. me and a friend were on the practice green and we dropped our balls at the far end of the green and we putted to the other. i hit the putt and it rolled over the lip with absolutely perfect speed. we paced it off. 96 feet. broke 23 feet to the left.
2 come to mind, first was just last year, playing on a local course, had hit a good drive to about 100yds or so. Pitching wedge to within about 2 inches of the cup, tap in for birdie.
Second was probly 4-6 years ago, maybe longer (memory stinks). Playing with some buddies who are usually substantially longer than myself off the tee. They both hit their normal 275+ drives and I step up, did nothing different to my knowledge, and literally almost drove a par 4 off the tee. The only logical explanation Ive ever come up with is the ball landed on a rock or something and just took a huge leap forwards and rolled to about 15yds of the green. (I still bogeyed the hole )
On a local course, Par 3, I hit an 8 Iron to an elevated green that was 138 from the tee. The ball landed on the edge of a steep slope passed the pin, and slowly rolled back to about 4 feet from the pin. That was probably the best shot I had ever made until that point, but I still had a putt to make(this is how I actively thought about it, I tried to block "Birdie Putt" out of my hed).
When my group and I reached the green , I read the putt( downhill, with a steep left to right). It wasn't the easiest 4 -footer, as I watched my fellow competitor miss his par putt from the same side of the green as I was, from a little further back. I proceeded to make my putt for my FIRST BIRDIE EVER.
I am a first year golfer, on Tues, the 3rd. 268 yard par 4. Drove the ball two feet from the pin. Putted for eagle. Not sure which was the better shot, the two foot put. ( which I have missed plenty of) or the drive.
hmmm not sure. I had a 55ft putt. But, last week i was 100 yards out and picked up the SW. I hit it perfect and took a nice big divot, it hit the green and spun back 1ft. Just like you see the professionals do.
That really made my day. Although i two putted to miss birdie and a par, just to hit a shot and see it react like you do on the TV just made my day :)
I was wondering what your best shot ever was and how it happened.
4 years ago, Pebble Beach, 18th Hole
I was playing from the tips, winds were at just under 30 MPH comming from the Pacific crossing the fairway from the Left to Right.
I set my tee up a touch higher to give the drive a little higher. Set up on the PRO LINE (the line brings the ball over the beach of the ocean, cuts the corner and the wind blows the ball back onto the fairway). It took me about 20 seconds to pull the trigger, took a big swing, smooth and confident. The ball took off right on line but a little low, It was going to make the line and run back into the fairway, but that was not to be the outcome.
My ball missed by less than a foot and rolled onto the beach.
It was my most memorable shot. The one I can close my eyes and remember every second of it. So this I belive is my best shot ever.
I will be back to Pebble Beach some day. I will enjoy all 17 holes, but my heart will be waiting for the 18th. Next time you are mine my friend.
Second best shot was the first time that I broke into the 70s...needed to close with a birdie and hit the same hybrid for a second shot from about 220 to the front edge of the par five green...15 ft two putt for the birdie and a 79
Both of those shots were memorable, but one of the best technical shots I ever made was an intentional slice around a sharp dogleg from the rough with a 4 iron from 190ish...ball traced the exact trajectory that I imagined and landed one hop stop 5 feet from the hole...

THAT IS SWEET, REALLY SWEET !!!!!
I have quite a few par 5 eagles. I only have 1 par 4 eagle in all my playing all these years.
Playing the 18th Par 5 545 Yards in a Club match all square, Holed my second shot with a 5 Iron from around 215 for an Albatross (Double Eagle) To win the match, and all 4 of us watched it hit the green, check and slowly roll into the Hole!! 1 Month Later in another Competition Holed in One on a par 3 175 Yards, again, all 4 of us watched it hit the green, check, and roll into the hole, Won £500 worth of BMW Gear for that, They were the sponsers of the Comp. Both 5 Years ago and nothing close to anything like that since!!!
