great trip to Ireland planned - any advice

i thought this would be a good place to meet other golfers who've played over seas and see if there was any advice they could lend me. Im going to Ireland to play in September with a prostate charity group, accompanied by a group of athletes - i.e. Darrell Evans, Vida Blue, Steve Carlton and others. Whats should I definitely bring, what should I watch out for?

Any advice guys?

Thanks

If you are going to Dublin watch out for the price of a pint.

If going to the north play Royal Portrush

What a coincidence, I am leaving for Ireland tommorow and playing at least one round of golf. I've never been so I'm excited to get a chance to play there.

Bring rain gear , bring summer gear , bring windproof gear, bring sweaters and be prepared to wear all of them at various times during the same round. bring your drinking boots and plenty of painkillers for hangovers the post golf festivities are great and Guiness is a powerful brew particulally compared to some US beers( i use the term loosley) . lastly if you are playing links golf bring a lot of golf balls !

what courses are you playing

Just got back from Ireland. What a blast!!!! Rained 1 day, still played. Wore short
sleeve shirts the rest or the time. Everything is expensive due to value of the
dollar to the Euro. I thought Dublin was really great. Great food, drink and plenty
of good looking women. Please try to play Royal County Down,. Old Head ,
Ballybunion and Doonbeg. All great courses. Carry clothes for all types of weather,
esp rain gear. Wind vests and wind shirts. Hope you have a great time!!!

Another trick which you probably know... dont pack your largest heaviest staff bag! Many places will not have carts even if you specifically request one!

what is it with you Americans and golf carts , why when you come to some of the most beautiful scenary on earth would you want to ride in a cart? Get off your backsides take a walk and stop to smell the flowers to paraphrase one of your greats.

Do you guys know the reputation you get here in Ireland!? The kids are just dying to caddy for any 'Americans' because they get so much money thrown at them at the end!

My mate used to caddy when he was at Uni and he prayed for an American, tip was soooo much more than the other nations!

He says thanks for keeping him in Jack D!
