I bought some top-flite bals at Dicks one day....$8 for 15. the salesman said they were not dicontinued, just not selling well and they wanted space for hot sellers. I bought 2 15 pks, just starting out and needed balls. Long story short, i like them as much as the titliest nxt.(my game is not that advanced). I want some more but can't find them. they were in a green saran wrap kind of box, 15 to a pack, and were labled as soft 2 piece ball. no special name like D2,X200, or anything else . any suggestions as to were to find these? no other sporting goods store has them.
They were probably D2's before they named them D2. The green variation is a Feel ball rather than a distance ball. I have heard that the D2 Green goes as far as the D2 Red (distance).
I believe these D2 Green balls are the best value on the market today. 15 balls for 16$ is a good deal and the quality of the balls is first rate. I would expect we will start seeing dimple in a dimple technology implemented in the Callaway line shortly.
tried everywhere in town. thinking about calling other dick's stores in the area. if not, I am surely going to try the D2. I've heard more bad than good about Top-Flite, but as for me and my game TF..$15.99 Titeliest..$26.99(nxt) and the results the same.

I have to argue this one. The dimple-in-dimple (D2) technology does what exaclty? According to Top Flite, it "maximizes control and distance for a wide range of swing speeds." Who can argue with that, I guess... The "Hex Aerodynamics" that Callaway uses is claimed to eliminate the seam, which sounds like a benefit and reduce drag, again, who can argue with that...
The bottom line is that balls with D2 technology and balls with Hex Aerodynamic technology fly just as far as the regular balls with round dimple technology. Both "technologies" are gimmicks and nothing more than intriguing marketing ploys.
But then they hit balls with dimples and saw they flew noticably further... And scientific evidence surfaced that supported the theory that dimples create drag and lift, making the ball fly further. Observable quantitative data and scientific evidence proved that putting dimples on a ball make it stay in the air longer.
Through the years, dimple size and patterns have been changed to slightly affect the trajectory of the ball and distance. The D2 and Hex ideas are nothing more than a different dimple pattern. There is nothing groundbreaking about their existence, or the USGA would have a strangle hold on them.
