Golf Bag Reviews

Should we have a tab for golf bags in equipment reviews... well it is a part of our equipment

Re: Golf Bag Reviews

Since you're asking the board at large I would vote no...the handful of threads per year on the subject pretty much cover it all...no need to clutter the site or occupy bandwidth for side by side comparisons of 15 kinds of carry bags...

Re: Golf Bag Reviews

Sorry, I have to disagree. With all the small talk and non-golf chat on here, I think we can afford the time, space and bandwidth. I feel we all would benefit by a thread that addresses comparisons, buyer impressions and general discussion of the bags available and the new ones coming along. After all, many replace their bag every couple of years and one of the most valuable things about this group is the feelings and opinions of the diehard golfers that make it up!

Re: Golf Bag Reviews

Could be just me then, but for me there are carry bags with the legs, cart bags and staff bags...some are gaudy, some are understated, some have more pockets than the others, and there is a niche with the gimmicks like bags with the wheels built in or the carosel spinning top...you pick what you like but in terms of performance? It's a bag, it performs like a bag, and the one that gets a thread started about it's virtues is usually done so by a guy who went down to the golf shop and picked one off the floor that suited his needs, thus a perfect fit...travel bags would make more sense to me as issues as tsa locks, overall weight, hardshell vs softbag reinforcement are specific performance issues and not all are created equally...but again start one thread on travel bags and most of the discussion that you are looking for will play out for you...

Re: Golf Bag Reviews

I have very few requirements in a bag.
  • Enough pockets for all my stuff - I view it as being like my purse when I'm on the course.
  • Light enough for me to lift out of my trunk because that's as far as I carry it.
  • Most importantly - I need to like the way it looks.
So, I wouldn't be that interested in posts on bags, but since some people probably would be - I can't think of any reason why you can't have a separate tab.

Shady - I think you should send a PM to Shade - it's probably his decision.

I have no idea...I'll leave that up to the experts here.

My kid, who carries, will go through a bag once a year. The one he happens to love is a Titleist that seems to be holding up. It will be a year old in January. I took a closer look at it yesterday, and yes it will be due to replaced by March at the latest. Kid loves the bag.....but he plays a heck of a lot of golf so the wear and tear on it are normal.

We had a Taylormade prior to this one...didn't last more then 6 months.

Re: Golf Bag Reviews

There are reviews for almost every other part of golf equipment so why not,it would be a difficult game to play without one.
