Re: Calling Colorado Golfers

I talked to my boss at the course (who also happens to be the head pro) about our group. He said anytime we figure out when we want to do it, he'll set up the tee times for us. And it can be done farther in advance than the normal tee reservation system will allow. So I can guarantee an outing there anytime except when the Men's club is playing, and our first tournament isn't until the 29th of March. Going by past experience, the course won't be in top shape until June though, when the grass has had time to thicken up and the spring aeration is healed up.

I still wouldn't be opposed to playing earlier, just want you all to be aware that any course we play early is going to have some rough spots. and the April-May time frame is when most courses are aerating, so that is a question we need to ask in setting up a round during those months.

Ok I'll cast my vote for Fourputts home course. Its time to settle on a course and start getting a date set before we all get other commitments set.

I just had a thought...yea it does happen on occasion.. .since there are going to be 8 of us are we going to stay with the same foursome the whole round or do we want to mix it up at the turn?

Good question. I'd be amenable to mixing it up. We also need to decide if we want to play a pure individual stroke game, or something different, like a partner fourball, only all four teams competing, and mixing the teams after 9 holes. I dunno... any ideas welcomed.

The partner fourball and mixing it up after the turn sounds like fun to me.
All right guys time to pony up and get out course selection done and start throwing out some dates.

Why not play a match that employs 3 different games going 6,6 and 6 tally them up for winners for each 6 holes and an overall from the combined points accumulated from the 3 different games?......bwgolfer

First suggestion.... everyone... please be sure you can come if you commit to whatever date we settle on.

What we can do is be sure that we meet at the chosen course well before our tee time and decide on a format. It's almost easier to have that discussion face to face, I think.

I'd like everyone to post their thoughts on how much longer we should wait for the weather and course to get a bit nicer, and what days of the week you cannot play. That is probably easier than picking the days you can. We can work by process of elimination.

I can play any day of the week for the most part, so I will start making a list and eliminating days that anyone says they can't make it. Then we can sort that down to possible dates. Right now, all days are possible with only my name in the hat...

Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday

Re: Calling Colorado Golfers

First of all, thanks for changing your picture Rick! I may not be playing golf yet, depending on how early in the season you play. After starting over left handed 4 months ago, I have made a lot of progress, but I'm not ready for a course yet. I think I expected too much too soon, but I'm hoping to be ready to play by summer.

So, let me know when you are playing!

Re: Calling Colorado Golfers

I just got home from walking my first 9 holes of the preseason. I'm not even mentioning how badly I played, but it felt wonderful....

Hint.... is it bad if you struggle to break 100 for 9 holes???? Wasn't quite that bad.

Re: Calling Colorado Golfers

Best day for me is Sunday. I run a retail clothing store(Homer Reed Ltd) and I play Tuesdays and Sundays. Sunday is the day that has the least amount of conflicts. Thanks bwgolfer

Re: Calling Colorado Golfers

I should be able to make about any day work, but weekends would be better as I would not need to take vacation time to play and I don't have any business trips planned where I will be out of town on a weekend.

As of now, my clubs are in AZ, as we have a vacation home there. Ill be getting them reshafted soon, so you all better bring your A game!

Weekdays are bad for me with school and everything. I have a feeling I will struggled trying to make the first CO outing, but I'm up for the one in summer!
