Anyone play with someone like this?

I am playing with this guy today, i play with him a bit and he is probabaly a 3 or 4 handicap.
Anyways we are playing hole 2 and he blows one past the hole, and i mean blows one part, it was like 15 feet atleast and i have a 10 foot birdie putt, anyways he proceeds to line it up and everything and then miss it, he claims he got robbed cause the lips were screwed or something or that the wind didn't do anything and it should have went in, i then miss my birdie putt and i am like well i got a par and he is like yeah same here, i am like well you missed that putt you got a bogey and then he is like well if i say you made your putt then we can call mine in too. I am like no, i got a par, you can have a par if you want (i am not gonna sit there and argue with him) and he missed 5 foot putts al round and picks up little 3 footers as gimmies. Then the other guy in my group, a friend of mine misses a 6 or 7 foot putt for par and he says well i got a par too (just to see what the guy says) and he then this guy says no you got a bogey and he was like this all round. Saying he got pars and stuff, i really don't care that much on certain little putts, but some putts made me mad.
Then he some how manages to shoot a 73 i think. I just cannot stand it, i even weatched him enter his score into his handicap RCGA thingy.
It was pretty pathetic.
I seriously do not get the 15 foot putt one, i asked him about it after the round and he claims it was an "easy 5 foot putt" that he could make 100 times in a row so it didn't matter. If i played with 15 foot gimmies i would shoot in the 50's! lol
Anyone else play with a guy like this, he really is a pretty good golfer, but this made me really mad.

Guys like that are just cutting their own throats. By entering the score, he will end up giving himself a false(lower) handicap. Eventually this will end up biting him in the keister. He can walk around all day and brag about his 2 handicap, but when it comes to crunch time say like a league match, it will turn on him. I don't know why some peoples vanity gets them to do stuff like that , but to each their own.

The way a person plays golf speaks volumes about their integrity and character.

No I don't play with anyone like that. But you want to know what's worse than someone like that? Playing with guys that go out to just get drunk. I take golf semi-seriouis because I can't dedicate as much time as I would like to it. But their etiquette really *****. Talking while your setting up and taking your shots. Yelling when they do something right. I stopped playing with them but I think they have to be the worse to be caught on the course with.

Your're right, drunks are the worse. But for better or worse, the selling of alcohol keeps quite a few golf courses afloat - many times the markup of the price rivals going to a vendor at a NFL or NBA game (should note that the high prices are also to discourage people from overdrinking). Nobody cares about the cold one during the round and a couple after with something to eat, but I see more and more clearly intoxicated people playing. Those people could care less about the golf.

I simply stopped playing with a guy who regularly gave himself 3,4-foot putts and gloated about "beating" me. If by chance I get paired up with someone like that by the starter, I just ignore him and his "score" and play my game.

You play with Bill Clinton?

In the same vain, I don't like playing with anyone who is not as good as they think. I was working the other day on our bunkers and had to wait as a golfer was hitting his 3rd (4th?) shot on a short par 4. This guy was 50 yds short, playing from a downhill lie in the rough, hitting to a slightly elevated green, a difficult shot no matter who you are. He ends up chipping and his shot rolls (and rolls) over the green. He comments that he couldn't believe the chip didn't quote "check up" and then says something about us not watering the greens! First, if you were the player you think you are, you wouldn't be 50 yds short on a 350 yd hole, hitting your 3rd shot. Second, I don't water the greens just so your skulled chip shots from a downhill lie from the rough can "check up". Some people have very unrealistic expectations when playing and although I wasn't paired with this guy, I don't think I could enjoy playing golf with him. At least, as far as I know, he didn't take 2 or 3 strokes off when he wrote down his score. Those guys are the worst.

The "Golf Gods" always find a way to get back at guys like that. From my experience....anyone who has to tell you how good they are, usually tells you they shoot scores 4/5 (or more) strokes lower than they actually do. When players give themselves 5 footers because they were easy, rarely make them when they have to make them to win a skin or a match. When they miss a short one, it's always greenguy's fault!

Nope not a friend, i just golf with him from time to time. He usually only did it with short little putts, but that 15 footer made me mad and all the tough little 5 footers as well.
Oh and green guy, this guy is the exact same way, he'll play a flop shot and be mad cause it rolled a bit then he played a bump and run and was mad cause it checked up and said he hates using pro v1x's cause of the spin they get. I ended up getting a pro v1x for a nike ti velocity in the end, so i can't complain about that! But he is like that, he gets mad when they don't check up and then gets mad when they do cause he said it didn't last time so he "didn't play the check"
He is actually a very good golfer, but i do not like golfing with him anymore.
He is actually a good putter as well, that is the wird thing, he can make all these putts, he just doesn't.
He is actually probabaly one of the better putters at our course, weird eh.

Like, next time you play with him, like, tell him on the first tee that today we play, like, putt-outs. No gimmes. If he doesn't like it, tell him to, like, find another group. The hole ain't over till the ball touches the bottom of the hole.

They blame me when they miss period, doesn't have to a short one I just got in hand watering a green collar and waited for a guy to putt. He had about 40 ft and with the wind drying things out (finally), I would guess the greens are approaching 10 on the stimp. So the guy hits his putt and rams it off the green and now has 20 ft coming back. He turns and says in all seriousness "these greens are horrible!". I felt like saying "No, sir your putting stroke is horrible. Most people like smooth, relatively fast greens. But maybe that's just them. Next time I'll have them slow, wet and bumpy just for you!" But I bit my tounge. It's always my fault

Sounds like someone watched a little too much US Open and found another excuse for his poor play.

Though while we're at it... dammit, greenguy, why did you make me sign up for 2 softball leagues this summer? I can't believe you!!!

I won't take the fall for that one, tony! I'd blame that on being a UM fan living in Columbus
