WOW! I Don't Understand At All

Yesterday was nice so I got up at 8am and made my way out to a local 36 hole course. Asked if there was anywhere I could walk on and found out I could walk on anytime between 9-11 cause the course was empty. So I ended up getting paired with an older gentlemen and tee'd it up at 9:06...well the old man said he'd keep score for the both of us. I said ok as I didn't mind...

Well we started playing and I knew I was doing fairly well on the front 9 including a birdie...back 9 came around and I started playing even better...even firing off back to back birdies...and I was just on fire...I mean striking the ball as best I ever had.

We get done and he tallies up my score...76....38-38...can you say OMG!!!!!!! I was shocked...I literally stood at the clubhouse in utter shock. I still don't understand where this score came from. I knew I was doing spectacular (for me)...but WOW...I could not believe it.

I'm still in shock really.

the stats on the course:
BLUE 71.7 rating 120 slope 6774 yards

So what do I do...oh I went out and celebrated with the guy and drank!!!! LOL

Now you officially have your Dragon to chase! Congrats, that is really cool!!!

It's interesting thinking back on my own rounds and some of my best scores have come when I wasn't keeping score. I definetely think there is something to simply concentrating on each and every shot without knowledge of how the strokes are fitting into the overall picture.

Re: WOW! I Don't Understand At All

Nice round!

Sounds like why I had to quit tallying my score at the turn and almost hide my scorecard from sight during play. I play at my best when I don't know what my total is. I've blown some great rounds due to over-confidence and made some bad rounds even worse by trying too hard to make up strokes by taking shots I should not.
