Weather/temperature? Time of day? Playing partners? Course(s)?
I like to be near the middle of a round by morning or late in the afternoon--I like courses with big fairways and soft greens.
There's a "resort" course on Lana'i named Koele and a county course on the Windward side of Oahu named Pali with these conditions and where the play is incredible at these times.
I'll hit the links with anyone, but the rounds are best when they're with the family.

70 degrees, and tee off around noon. Like you I'm also not real picky when it comes to playing partners but playing with friends and family is always the best. As far as course setup I'm all for big fairways and the pins in the middle or back of the greens.
I have a city pass where I live that allows me to play on 6 different courses and to be honest I don't care which one I'm on. As long as I'm on one of them I'm playing golf and thats good enough for me.
6 AM, first group off. A warm summer morning with no wind, with one or two friends who play fast also. Nothing like the sun coming up and a little dew on the greens, and I'm done by 9.
High 60s at tee time of 10 am with a nice breeze. Playing on my home course of Marcus Pointe with three retired military pilots who live nearby. The oldest is 87 who frequently shoots his age while walking 18. We can have a really good match when I play with my wood shafted clubs and gutta percha balls..

I've read those guttas have a tendency to "fragment during flight." Has this happened to you very often, Billyg?
playing in 70 degree weather early afternoon. just something about putting on 18 with the sun setting in back of you. doesnt matter where i'm playin. cold beer is always a must.
If I could control weather and time I guess I would choose Sunny, 72*, little to no wind, and tee off at 9:00AM.
I chose 9:00AM so I could sleep in a little, but I also enjoy playing early or late as well watching the sun go up or down. When I was 16, my younger brother and I spent quite a few Saturdays teeing off as the sun came up and finished as it went down walking 54 holes for the day. I don't have the legs for that anymore,,lol!
Weather: Springtime, sunny and 72* with a few puffy white clouds.
Course: Medium length, tree lined with wide fairways, soft greens, and traps & water hazards that are moderate but not intimidating... with greens fees that don't require a loan officer to be standing by.
Tee Time: Mid to late morning, 9:30 to 11:00.
Playing Partners: preferably, my regular foursome.
Pace: Moderate - not a sprint, but not a slog. I hate feeling pushed by players bent on setting a speed record, nor am I a fan of play so slow that you're waiting on every tee, either.
When all of the above come together (usually at San Clemente Municipal, one of my favorite courses), I'm a happy little golfer!
i'm in central new york so anything from 45-70* is great. with a little wind. but not so much that its like grrrr. for one round 2-4 pm (i'm a night person i stay up till 4 or 5 am most nights also work 2nd shift). if we are going to do more then one round 8 am because my brother and i tend to like to play two different courses when we do. and at a casual pace. no hurry but not so slow we drink a 12 pack before the 3rd tee. oh and i like more narow fairways it challenages me to hit better shots. and thats what i love about golf it's challengeing.
73° - 78°, light breeze, 9-9:30am tee time and on a course that's not going to overly strain my golf rookie swing with trees & water, preferably with my gf, her sister & brother-in-law. Lots of "no damage intended" trash talking going on that makes it fun....sometimes hard to take a shot due to laughter, but I can handle that!
65 degrees spring or Fall. 11-2, or perhaps one of those long summer evenings where it don't get dark till real late.
I'd like to revisit some of the courses that really kicked my butt 3 years ago, but the country club is fine as well. Large greens, beautiful scenery, lots of country fresh air, no groundskeepers mowing or running the sprinklers on me.
Playing hooky from work. Perhaps I have a brand new shiny club in my bag to try out.
I like to have the course to myself. Perhaps I'm playing multiple practice shots on every hole. Just daydreaming about entering a tournament that weekend and winning it all.
Depends on the time of years. In the summer, I like early tee times before the temperture gets too high. In the winter, I like to let it warm up at much as possible so a noon tee time is about perfect. Summer I like 7:00 to 8:00AM Not real fond of windy conditions, but a light breeze can be nice if the temperture is over 75 or so. Never have played in the rain, but I can't see how that would be too much fun.
