Local tournament
A friend of mine just asked me to play in a local golf tournament. I'm not the best player in the world, but it sounds like fun. For those of you that have played in local tourneys, what's it like and should I bother?

Tournaments are always great. You get to see what other golfers are like, you really get to laugh when cheaters are exposed for who they really are, and if you're lucky, the ending will be decided in a playoff and you'll get to watch the best golfers there going head-to-head. You could really learn something, so I say you should go.

You didn't mention what kind of tournament format you are going to play. Is it a scramble, a better ball, a match play, or stroke play tournament? Is it a city/state amateur event or a corporate charity outing? If we could know more about the type of event you're playing in we could offer more knowledgable advice.
