favorite shot

What are some of your most memorable or favorite shots? One of my favorites happened on thursday when I was about 70 yards out and 20-25 mph wind in my face. I grabbed a sand wedge, 120 yard club, and just hit it full and watched it climb in the air a lot higher then normal and just fall straight down, 2 feet from the cup. Some people would have played it out of the wind but I just wanted to hit that shot. It was awesome to just walk up there and tap it in. the shot looked so cool because of how high it climbed and just hit a wall where it could not go any further and fell straight down.

Of the many many eagles over the last 4 years the shot that sticks out as the classic was my first ace
I'd been playing regularly for about 6 months and had befriended a guy who is now the club matchplay champ
Just having finished a rather poor round with the old guys on a wednesday morning and telling one of them I was going to shelve my 4iron - throwing it into the garge with my 3iron - and would purchase a 9wood to go with the 7wood id bought
So Johns on the practice green and asks me if i'll play another 9 holes , what the heck i thought and threw my woods in the car figuring i needed the irons practice
First tee - 4iron , high slice
2nd tee - 4 iron , high slice - 2nd shot a 4 iron - another high slice
3rd hole . par 3 150 yrd into a strong wind
longest club i had was a 4iron .
I'd just hit it 3 times .all the same so allowed for the slice and ripped it
Same shot . as we walked towards the green that's in a slight hollow John's rubbishing my technique "now changed btw"
"you play the ball too far forward in your stance . hands shouldnt be in front of the ball . you hit it too high . you swing outside in and shouldnt slice like that , your losing distance blah blah"
Figuring I'd gone thru the green into deep rough i wait beside John as he chips onto the green then walk out back to play my shot - no ball tho -as i walk towards the hole "we can all dream aye lol" John's still at me repeating himself by this time
I take out the flag - bend down and pick my ball out of the hole - hold it in my open hand towards him and asked him "shall i go back and hit it properly ?"
He never said another word

I was sitting about 170 yards from the green with a stand of trees blocking my shot to the green. I sliced a five wood around the trees and hit the green. The guy I was golfing with was Scottish with a real strong accent. He said: Aye, now there is a golf shot. It was a perfect statement for one of my best golf shots.

Mine was about 13 hours ago. 470 yard, uphill dogleg par 5. I drove the ball 285 down the middle, and was left with an uphill 185 yard shot, with a line of trees protecting the green. I hit a high 9-wood over the line of trees. I couldn't see where it landed, but knew it had potential. When I got up to the green, I noticed my ball was 15 feet short of the cup. I made the putt for my first eagle!

I made mine probably half a dozen years ago now. Par 5 just playing about one evening for fun, decent drive with some summer run, 200 and a bit yard second with a 5 iron, carried the bunker short, bumped and rolled then disappeared for my first albatross two..... had a couple of holed 9 irons or wedges for eagles too, but the albratros is a special bird!

Actually my dad made a 2 on a par five in competition some years back also, a driver off the deck for his second, shame I missed it :(

the favourite shot, well, im gonna call it a shot, but it was an entire hole i've ever hit was in competition play at the start of last season. first hole at my club is a 480 yard par 5, downhill at the start, then levelling out from aobut 120 yards into the green. i had a lend of my friends titleist 975J, he had just got it, it was new at the time. there was about 30 people standing around the tee, it being the 1st competetion of the new season. i just thought, "so what if i hit a bad one?" brought the club back, winded my shoulders up as much as i could, then just unleashed into the ball, and thankfully made superb dead center contact! the ball shot off the tee and finished 140 yards from the green! i then hit a 7 iron second shot to 8 feet, felt confident and rolled the putt in for my first eagle! felt so nice! especially because i got 5 stableford points for it! i was playing off 18 at the time!

About a year ago, I was at the tee on a longish par-3 (186 yards). I took my 3-iron and duffed my tee-shot. My dad asked if I wanted a mulligan, but I told him I wanted to save it for later. So, around 3 yards in front of the tee-box, I took the same club and took a nice easy swing. The result was a high, crisp shot that landed and stopped two feet before the hole.

I made my par putt.

Another notable accomplishment was my ace. A few weeks ago, I was on a short par-3 (105 yards) at Linwood CC. Wind was in my face so I took an extra club (PW) instead of the normal SW. I hit my shot high, clean, and right at the pin.

"I bet it's close to the pin," I said to my grandfather.

I then approached the green. My grandfather snickered and said "The ball's close alright. Close off the green."

Slightly frustrated, I banged my putter into the rough.

But I had an instinct.

I raced toward the cup and looked in. There it was! My ball!

"Holy [of all holies]! It's in the cup!"

Playing a average length par-4, my fairway (#11) and the 2nd to the left were separated by woods, a deep stand of very large pine trees. I snap-hook my drive down into the middle of #2. I could barely make out the pin through the trees and really had no idea how far it was. I pulled the longest club I thought I could clear the trees with, a 6 iron. Hit it pure and it couldn't have cleared the trees by more than a foot or 2. I didn't see it land but my partner said you're going to like it. No happy ending though.... I missed the downhill 5-footer for bird. Oh well.

It is cool to here stories of good golf shots. Another of my most memorable shots came on a day when I was playing my best round ever. I was two over on the 18th and it was a par 4 dogleg left. I went over the left side but actually went through the fairway. I was under some trees 130 yards from the flag. 30 yards ahead of me was an opening about 10 feet wide but only 10 feet high. The green was about 15 yards left of the opening so I took a five iron, played it back in the stance, and set up for a draw. Well I hit the shot, watched it stay low, draw after the trees and role up on the green to 20 feet. I two putted and walked away with a 74

My favorite shot is any and all shots that I picture and then manifest before my eyes. Running a close second is the duck hook, then the pull, the push, the top, the shank, the skull and last but not least, the duff.

Most memorable was when I was chipping in to get up and down on a par 4 and I skulled the heck out of it. It went screaming over the green, about 2 inches off the ground, hit the pin and slammed right into the cup for a birdie. The shot was immediately follwed by hoots and hollers from my group..lol

My most memorable shot is when I was about 6 months into golfing about 3 years ago. My friend and I were on a 255 yard par 4 and decided to both go for it. After the group ahead of us got off the green, I hit my driver dead solid perfect, absolutely straight over the bunkerin front of the green and stopped about 18 feet away. I made the putt for my first eagle ever.

My best shot is my first hole in one that I got last February. It was my best shotbecause I was playing awesome that day, and I called for a slight fade starting at a certain tree and bleeding to the pin. It came off perfect and rolled into the cup.
