Wow, ForeOnTheRoad.... amazing shots. I will never look around NY/NJ and think i'm in Utah, that's for sure... thanks for reminding me it's time for a vacation!
Here is a link that will show all pictures I have uploaded to the gallery here. This page should always be current. I'm pretty new to this forum, but I have already posted several pictures here.
Anyone interested in a golf vacation in the Summer or Fall should consider the Salt Lake area. The courses are affordable, too.
I'm getting tired of all the wind here in Indiana. For the last 4 days we've had strong winds and it's really taking a toll on my game. Yesterday I went out with a strong wind out of the south and shot a 81 in the morning with a 43 on the front nine and a 38 on the back. During the afternoon I played a different course and shot a 43. (6 pars, 1 bogey, 1 double, and 1 triple ) Today I went out in a strong wind coming out of the southwest and shot a 42 (I had a snowman on the first hole )
I shot an 83 today, a very, very ugly 83. Felt more like it should have been a 93. Lots of up and downs, very few fairways and greens except for the back nine. Better get my act together, major tournament this weekend.

Weather in Arkansas has been great. The greens are is super shape and every thing is dry and warm now. Shot an 80 a few days ago. A double cost me big time. Fade into the water. Not sure what hurt worse the double or the lost Nike One Black.
I shot an 83 at my Par 61 course. Not bad. I had a horrible Front Nine though, without a single par. I shot a 16-over-par 46. But then the round went...
10 - par
11 - par
12 - bogey
13 - bogey
14 - bogey
15 - par
16 - double bogey (D'oh!)
17 - par
18 - bogey
So I had a quite successful Back Nine, shooting 37. My second lowest round ever. Should have entered that for the OG/YG tournament. Meh. I'll just do it all again on Friday... except, not mess up the Front.
I played a 9-hole A-B-C blind draw 3 man scramble at Barbers Point. After parring the first 4 holes including a par 5 We went eagle, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie to finish with a 30 and solo 3rd... 2 teams tied for first with 29s and had a putt off.

Shot a 30 and end up in 3rd. :letitallo I love playing in scrambles, but I seem like I am always in the same situation you are, on the outside looking in.

Scrambles are a blast.. I like this ABC format, every team has a A player (0-10 handicap) a B player and a C player, and there are at least 2 teams on every hole. I feel like I have a good chance to win every time because nobody is going to go crazy low. I've played in some scrambles where the winner shoots 50! I'm not saying it's impossible, but when there is only one team per hole...it kinda makes me wonder.
I still made some money, but first place would have been nice. The last time I played in a scramble I tied for first and lost the chip off... this time I made a 20 foot putt on the last hole thinking 30 might be good enough to get me into a playoff to redeem myself, maybe next time
What's a scramble?.... like a ambrose or something?
What's an ambrose? A scramble is where everyone on the team hits a tee shot, you pick the best one and everybody on the team hits from there and so on until the ball is holed

Quote:
A scramble means that all four team members tee off on each hole and then decide which tee shot they like the best and mark the spot with a tee or ball marker. The other team members pick up their balls and place them within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot. Each team member hits their next shot from the chosen spot of the prior shot. This procedure is followed on every shot for the remainder of the hole, including putts. The ball should be marked on the putting green also. Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score. If the ball you choose to play is in a hazard (sand, water, etc.), the rough, or out of bounds, you can not drop the ball outside of the hazard or rough even if relief is within one club length away. Each team must use at least one of each team members tee shots on each nine (minimum two tee shots per player).
There are a few variations, but this is the generally the way I have played them.

I've been in some where the winning team was in the low 50's and the four member team was so drunk they could barely stand up. When ever I play in a scramble, I go into it with the attitude that I am out playing golf with some buddies and I am going to have a good time. If anything else comes out of it, Long Drive-Closest to the Pin-Overall score, that's just a bonus
